Teaser Tuesday! (6)

Do you want to participate in Teaser Tuesdays? It's simple and hosted by MizB from Should Be Reading. All you have to do is:
-Grab your current read
-Open to a random page
-Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
-BE CAREFUL NOT T INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

-Share the title & author, too, so that the other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

So, I thought that I should tease y'all a wee bit before I post my review of Between on Thursday. You know, since this book is 100% AWESOME.

Between"He stared at me like his world had suddenly slipped on its axle and he was seeing me for the first time.  A flicker of hope crossed his face before he clamped his jaw and shook his head as if to clear it." ~pg. 13, Between, Cyndi Tefft

I honestly and truly LOVED this book, so be sure to drop by and see my review on Thursday!

Side note: I really MUST get the sequel to Between, Hell Transporter, as soon as possibly possible. Arg, I need to hear more about Aiden!

Okay, back to regular programming . . .

As always, feel free to leave links to your own teasers! I may whine about how these things taunt me, but I really love a good tease!

Thank you for checking out my teaser! If you liked this post, be sure to check out my others - I've got tons of them.

Until next post, Friends!

ReVamped Relay - #EthansLegion♥

***I took this WHOLE post from Jessirae WITH HER PERMISSION. It is not mine and was originally posted on her blog HERE. I may have changed a word or two here and there, or the colors or something, but other than that, I did NOT make this post. None of the contact information is for me and I am NOT a team leader for this relay. I AM on the US team, though, and would love for you to join our team! We could all have so much fun reading together, Friends! Please, read on for more information about the relay and the prizes to be won! (Because everyone loves winning prizes, right?)***

ReVamped by Ada Adams

A simple mission turned deadly.

Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father’s presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn’s life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue.

When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

I know that purchasing print books can often be costly. I also know that many readers prefer to read print copies vs. electronic ones. Therefore, I devised a fun, interactive, and economical way for readers to get their hands on a print copy of ReVamped!
On May 10th, I will be sending out 5 print copies of ReVamped to five ReVamped Relay Teams, hailing from different corners of the world (Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Asia)!
The teams are headed by five amazing bloggers (see below for their information). These bloggers (who have already read and loved ReVamped – yay!), will be responsible for starting off the ReVamped Relay and passing on the print copy of the book to interested readers. The readers may consist of fellow book bloggers or “civilian” readers.

TEAM FIVE? – (Asia)
I am looking for a dedicated team leader from ANYWHERE in Asia who read and *LOVED* ReVamped to join in on the fun! :D
How can you join the ReVamped Relay? Simply contact the Team Leader closest to you (through Twitter or Email). If you are emailing, please include the team name in the title of the email, so that it doesn’t end up in the spam folder and can be viewed by the right team leader.
 The readers will:
1. Read the book.
2. Post a short review (anywhere!)
Suggested places: Blog, Amazon, B&N, Goodreads, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
The review could be as short as one or two sentences or longer. You can even Tweet the review and it will count. Just make sure that you save the link.
3. Email the following information to your Team Leader:
Your Name, Location, Review Link. Please ensure that your team name is in the email title!
(ex. Sarah A., Toronto, Canada, www.amazon/twitter/facebook/goodreads/reviewlink.com)
*Why is this part of the relay important? Read the “Prizes” section to find out!
4. Share the book.
It’s up to the reader to choose who to share the book with. This could be a friend or a family member, someone from school, someone in another town, or someone from a completely different corner of the world! Please ensure that this person is interested in reading ReVamped and participating in the relay, so that we can make sure they will also pass on the book. Ideally, the goal is to see how far the book can travel, and how many homes (and hopefully hearts!) it can reach. Do you have to spend money for shipping? No. You can pass it on by hand. If you want to ship, that’s great as well. The Team Leaders can also be responsible for getting people onto a team reading list, so do check in with them.
5. Bonus.
Sign your name and add any comments into the Reader Notebook that will be travelling with the book. Feel free to sign your name in the book as well!
*Please understand that the Team Leaders and I are doing this with the belief that all participants will follow an honor code and pass on the book after reading. This is a fun way to read a book, connect with friends, as well as make new ones along the way, so you need to be an active, enthusiastic, and honest participant for it to work.
Now, for the prizes!
Every month, we will tally up the readers from each of the five teams. This is why it’s important for everyone to sign in after finishing the book. The team with the largest amount of points will be declared that month’s winner!
Point System:
  • 1 point for each group member that signs their name
  • 1 point for each city that the book travels to
  • 2 point for each state/province that the book reaches
  • 3 points for each different country
Example:
A book that makes its way from Toronto, ON to Buffalo, NY to New York, NY and reaches ten readers.
  • 10 members: 10×1=10
  • 3 cities: 3×1=3
  • 2 states/provinces: 2×2=4
  • 2 countries: 2×3=6
  • Total Score: 23
All members from the winning team will be placed in a draw for ReVamped goodies (print copies of the book, posters, bookmarks, etc.) 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be declared every month. The numbers are re-set after each month, and a new tally starts up, so that every team has an equal chance of winning each month. However, the member names don’t re-set, so if you were part of the Month One team, you still can win during the Month Two or Month Three draws.

*If you’re active on Twitter and participating in the relay, please use the following hashtag: #ReVampedRelay and add in @Ada_Adams (or an @ to your Team Leader). We will be following you and RT-ing along the way! If you’re interested in being a part of the relay once it’s already underway, you can also Tweet @ us and hopefully the book will make its way to you! Come by and join the Facebook Page as well @ www.facebook.com/revampedbook.

A World of Nevers♥

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Release Date: Already Released! (January 3, 2012)
Publisher: Harper Collins
Format: Hardcover (signed), 374 pages
Source: Bought!
Description from Goodreads:
Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

This. Book. Was. Amazing. Truly, words cannot describe the epicness of this beautiful book, but I'll try. But first, I'll just get the recommendation out of the way now - EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK. Everyone. I don't care who you are, just read this. It was positively amazing.

Okay, now on to specifics we go. As I said, I absolutely, positively, undoubtedly LOVED this book. It was amazing. Beautiful. Wonderful. Fabulous. Marvelous. Terrific. Splendiforous. Miraculous. Epic. Lovely. Elegant. And so many other positive adjectives that I'm not going to bore y'all with listing. Oh, wait, one more - DAZZLING. That's one I haven't used very often. Anyway, this book is one of those books that I wonder why I waited so long to read it. I can't fathom any reason good enough to postpone that greatness.

This story was literally entrancing. The beginning piqued my interest right away and then held it as the story unfolded. It actually built up in a way that I didn't expect. After the first few chapters, the story became something I was the teeniest bit reluctant to read, but that changed SUPER fast. Because then Perry and Aria meet up (again) and all the fun stuff happens. :) From then on, I was 100% reluctant to put the book down at all. Darn school for getting in the way of my reading momentum.

Okay, here's something for you - this book was so good that I read it during ALGEBRA (II) class. Why is that significant? Well, that would be because:
1. Algebra (II) is really hard. (Well, the topic we were covering at the time was, anyway.)
2. I really like math class. (Yes, I am that weird.)
3. I'm usually too lazy to dig my book out of my bag during that class. (Hehe.)
So, see? This book was really great.

Once Aria and Perry officially "meet" (I say "meet" because they don't exactly know each others' names yet, but at least they're both conscious) the book becomes positively addicting. Veronica's writing was so beautiful. She described everything so well, but not in a way that can become boring. Not once during the reading of this book did I actually get bored. Frustrated, yes. Sad, yes. All my hopes and dreams crushed, yes. But bored or uninterested? NEVER. (That's kind of a joke . . . hehe?)

This was one of the few books that I've read in a while that I've wanted to read every single word on every single page. Now, before we all explode, I'm pointing out what I said: one of few in a while that I've WANTED to read every single word on every single page. I always read everything in every book I review, but sometimes it is tedious because there will be parts that I just do not want to spend time on. I read them anyway. Under the Never Sky, on the other hand, did not disinterest me in any way at any point in the book.

To further tell about Veronica's writing, I enjoyed the fact that the point of view was alternating between Perry and Aria. I always like this quality in books because it gives us readers a chance to see and understand things the way more than just one character does. In Under the Never Sky, this is very helpful with helping us understand the opinions and feelings of the characters. Oh, the feelings. Especially the feelings. The emotion in this book was probably as close to perfect as any book may ever get. The only book I can think of that may be even with this is Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. Actually this whole book may be a piece of tabgible perfection. Not that I would know, but it's a guess.

Character rundown: Aria. I LOVED Aria. She was strong and confident, but not in a snobby way. She had an open mind and faced her problems head-on. She wasn't afraid to share how she felt and dealt with these feelings in her own ways. Aria is probably my favorite female lead in a book this year. Perry - OH PERRY. I adore Perry. He is gentle yet fierce. He is dangerous yet caring. He is shy yet open. He is just pure amazing. Again, quite possibly my favorite male lead I've read about this year.

The ending. Oh, the ending. It certainly led us in the direction of the next book (Through the Ever Night). And this book ended too soon, in my opinion - but I always say that. This is one of those instances where I say this, but it can't really hold merit because it ended at the right time. I really think so, though I wish I were to have access to the next book RIGHT NOW. Also, as far as the ending goes, it did not disappoint me in the slightest. I thought it would end on a disappointing note, considering where the story was going at the time, but I was perfectly content at the end. And now I'm ready to read more of Perry and Aria's story! AHHH!

I've heard from a couple of people that this book was the best book they have read in 2012 so far. Now that I've finally read it, I have to say I think I agree. And again I say: the only book either even with Under the Never Sky, or - at the very least - remotely close, was Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. So I'll take this moment to say YOU WERE RIGHT, ANNA!

Another quick note: the title of this post "A World of Nevers" comes from a quote in the book. "A world of nevers under a never sky." I really realy really really liked this quote. Whenever anyone would ask me what this book was about, I'd reply that I was reading a book about "a world of nevers under a never sky." My point here - this quote was one of my favorites, if not my one and only favorite. It's so beautiful to me. Also, this book was one of those that I actually understood the title! You knwo those books with titles that seem to come out of nowhere? Well this title actually makes perfect sense! I was so happy and proud of myself when the understanding struck me. A gorgeous title for a gorgeous book.

Okay, I'll stop talking now. . .
Thank y'all for reading my review, and be sure to stop by my blog again tomorrow to see what wonderful, wonderful books I got this week!

Stay safe until next post, Friends!

Time for me to Randomly Rant

All right, so I'm seriously going to do what the title of this post says - randomly rant. What about, you ask? Weeeeell, last week in school, I was in class with this girl - I'm not going to tell her name because it is not important to my main point. I sit next to her in one of my classes and, to be perfectly honest, she is not always the nicest to me. I mean, she's okay a lot of the time, but there are certain instances where she does hurt my feelings or make me mad. I don't really do anything about this, though, becasue I'm not a hostile person. Arguments just don't fly with me most of the time.

For the record, I am very good at arguing, I just don't like the angry part. Anger unsettles me.

Anyways, we were in class and we had to answer some questions and then go over our answers with groups. This girl was in my group. Now, here's where I start to get to the point - she looked at one of my answers and CHANGED WHAT I WROTE.

Yeah, I said it. CHANGED WHAT I WROTE. This was a class with computers, so she grabbed my keyboard and backspaced some things away and typed in what she thought was better. She told me that the way I had originally began the sentences was, and I quote, "not professional enough." Urm, what? We are in a high school class with a teacher who knows me and knows how I write and has not expressed any problems with this at all throughout the schoolyear.

Now, I don't remember exactly what I wrote, but I know that the sentence started with the word "Honestly. . ." I don't see the problem with that. Plus, I write how I write. Everyone writes things differently. It was a complete sentence, gramatically correct without a doubt (I am somewhat of a grammar fanatic, always correcting myself when I notice I mess up in conversation, and sometimes correcting people I know well because I'm weird like that), so no one has a right to tell me what I wrote was not correct.

In case you hadn't noticed, I tend to write how I talk. If we were talking in person and I was talling you this story, I would have actually said "urm" where I wrote it. I would have probably used hand gestures and spoke a little louder as I said "CHANGED WHAT I WROTE." That's just how I am. I like to use my words to express who I am - in ALL situations. On my blog and in school, too.

So, what is my point in this whole post? Well, I'm thinking that it's somewhere along the lines of DON'T TELL ME HOW TO WRITE. Or maybe the slightly tweaked DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO WRITE. I think both would suffice. I am me and I write the way I choose to. Just like you are you and write the way you choose to. We all have this right and no one should be able to correct us when we are using our voices. Now, there is a difference between what I'm talking about and critiquing or editing, obviously. Editing and critiquing are used to shape up soemthing you write into something more polished but is still yours. What I am talking about is where someone transforms what you have to say into something that really isn't you.

Something that isn't you? Where did that fall in my little story? Well, the girl changed what I wrote to something  boring and generic. Something "professional" enough for her standards. But, you see, I am not boring. Especially when I write something I mean. So changing my "Honestly. . ." to something completely bland took away from my own individual voice. That little SOMETHING that makes what I write . . . mine.

So two milliseconds after her hand was away from my keyboard, I hit the undo button a bunch of times until the sentence was mine again.

Yeah, that was a true story. I'd like to hear what y'all have to say about what I just told you. If you'd like to share your opinion, please, feel free to comment and tell me.

Thank you for reading my rant and visiting my blog! I hope I amused you even a little bit.

Until next post, Friends! (By the way, my next post should be a review of Under The Never Sky, in case you didn't notice the sidebar!)

Redheads Have Souls

Redheads are Soulless

Redheads are Soulless by Heather M White
Release Date: May 25, 2012 (Available in Kindle, Nook, and soon after, paperback)
Publisher: She's an amazing indie author!
Format: e-ARC
Source: From the author in exchange for an honest review
Description from Goodreads:
High school senior, Sofia Black, has had a very hard life. Since her father's death 7 years ago, she has had to look after her drug addicted, alcohlic mother. School isn't any better for her either. The other kids constantly tease, and ridicule her. All she wants is to get out of her small hometown in Alabama.

When new student, Jason, shows up, Sofia's world is turned upside down. She doesn't understand why he wants to befriend her so badly... And, just when she thinks she can trust him, trouble appears.

Jason's twin brother, Robbie, moves into town, and things go haywire. Sofia is now running for her life - and Jason is forced to share hidden secrets with her. She learns the truth about her father's death, and finds out that she may not be as "human" as she once thought. She struggles to accept her fate, while fighting for her life.

Lets just hit the ground running here - I read this book in less than a day. Yeah, I liked it that much. After looking at the description, this book intrigued me, so I was SO happy to read it. Then, I started reading it and I thought I would be able to guess everything. We all know those books - the ones that are so predictable. This is NOT one of those books, and I loved it!

Starting into this book, it did seem kind of . . . exaggerated in some ways. Relationships develope a little too fast and a little too intense to really seem REAL. I enjoyed reading it anyway because we all know I'm a softie. But then I read farther into the book and it just got better and better. We meet new characters that spice up the story a whole lot and the story gets much more interesting.

Ah, then, THEN, we get to the big climax part of the book where everything makes sense! The whole exaggerated beginning and everything - it was all part of the story. And let me tell you - there is a super fun twist in this story that throws us all off. I mean, I was personally shocked. Not so much by what happened, but by how HUGE the truth of the events are. That probably makes no sense to you right now since you probably haven't read Redheads yet, so I'll tell you my point: This book was so good! It tricks you and plays with you and confuses you (but in a good way).

Character rundown. First, we have the redhead. The reason for the title. Her name is Sofia, but also answers to "Sofie" or just "Sof." She was OKAY. Not wonderful, but not horrible. I love her transformation, though. She really grows in this book, and that is something I always respect. Next we have Jason. Ah, Jason. One half of the heartthrob twin-duo in this book. I have to say, I was taken by him. He was so kind and sweet and that's all I'm saying about him since I refuse to spoil anything. Last, we have Robbie. OH ROBBIE. Robbie is the bad boy. Which naturally means he has to be my favorite, though the odds are barely ever in my favor when this happens. I mean, have you read the Nightshade trilogy? Yeah, well I was Team Ren. Didn't work out so well for me. But Robbie . . . well he's funny and worth a whole lot of swoon. As I did with Jason, I'm going to stop there. I will not spoil the mystery that IS this pair of boys for y'all.

In case you didn't know - this book is paranormal. It is paranormal, but not super paranormal. That aspect of this story is only part of the main focus of the plot. The other half is a huge mystery that will not be divulged to you until you read this book. Mostly, Sofia tries to find answers for some odd things that happen around her. I'd say she gets her answer. On a good note for us readers, she gets her answer in a very attention-keeping way.

The ending. The ending was an ending. I knew it was coming, but I kind of really want to know what happens next. Arg, trilogies and their individual book-endings. The way this book left off, though, I wasn't really left unhappy, so that's a good thing. Okay, let me let this out - I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT BOOK. I cannot wait to read it and find out what comes next in Sophia and Jason and Robbie's story! Remember: I read this book in, like, a day. I sat down and started it Friday night around 7 PM and finished around 2 AM. It was awesome enough for me to sit up super late and read the whole way through. So who do you think I'm going to recommend this to?

. . . If you guessed EVERYONE, then you would be correct. This book was amusing and held my interest the whole way through. When a book is that great, of course I want everyone to read it! I want you all to understand my happiness at reading this pretty little book. (Pretty inside AND out. Just saying.)

I just want to say thank you to Heather for giving me this book to review. I really loved it, Heather!

And in the beginning of June, we will reach my stop in the Redheads blog tour! The tour starts in May 25th (release day!) and runs through some of June. I'll give you all more information as we get closer to the day, but I can tell you now that I'm reviewing Heather. I can't wait for this!

Thank y'all fo reading my review and checking out my blog!
Stay safe until next post, Friends!

Not his saunter down the beach toward her. Not his unbelievable pick up line. Not the instant, undeniable connection. And not his wings.

Yeah.

So long happily-ever-after.

Now trapped between life and death, cursed to spread chaos with her every touch, Eden could be the key in the eternal struggle between heaven and hell. All because she gave her heart to one of the Fallen, an angel cast out of heaven.

She may lose everything she ever had. She may be betrayed by those she loves most. But Eden will not be a pawn in anyone else's game. Her heart is her own.

And that's only the beginning of the end.
This book drew me in for a few reasons. First, the description is AMAZING. Second, I have heard many, many, many good things about this book. (The most prominent of these good things came from Kreag at I Devour Books.) And lastly, this book was more than 400 pages. What can I say? I like it when books are long enough to not end the day I start them. When adding all of this up to create my expectations for this book, I'd say that they were pretty high. I mean, I REALLY value other people's opinions when it comes to what I should and should not read. I am super happy to say that my expectations were certainly met, if not exceeded.

I thought this book would be based heavily on the whole "love" angle. Lots of books are, so really that's a realistic assumption. And I was half right. Love was somewhat important in this book, but it was not what made this story. The love had to be there, yes, but it was not really the main focus. We paid much more attention to Eden's predicaments with the Fallen and the other Siders than we did to her feelings for Az most of the time. Still, the author swooped in at just the right times to push Az back into our minds so we don't forget him.

Oh, the issues faced in this book. They thoroughly amused me and held my attention for all 400 pages. I remember how I was nearing the end of the book and hoping for more pages to magically appear so the book would not end. If that is not a sign that a book was great, I don't know what is.

Character rundown: Eden. I liked Eden! I loved how independent she was, not really reliant on her love interest like a lot of other heroines are in YA books. She does things for herself and controls what she wants to and doesn't care about anything else, and I love that. A kick-booty girl who actually takes charge. Oh, how I have waited for a girl like her in a book. Now, Az. OH, AZ. I adore Az, as I usually do with the guys in books. I love how he puts Eden first and doesn't give up on her. I tell you, it is things like these that melt my heart and win me over EVERY TIME. And it never gets old. Last, I'll say a few things about Luke. I have to admit that I swoon for Luke. The way he is described, he is a true heartthrob. I love that he is 100% evil, though. Kind of balances out his beauty. And his love. Yes, evil people find love as well. Or at least, I assume he loved her. That's what I got from certain happenings in this book. ;)

As a whole, this story was purely gorgeous. Yes, I described a STORY as gorgeous. Because this one really was. I am immensely glad I got this book, and I encourage you all to read it, if you're into the whole fallen-angels thing. . . . On second thought, even if you're not. I say anyone should give this book a try because it is not your everyday angel story. It's different, and I enjoy that! It's always nice to mix up the angel story that is so common these days.

Okay, that's it, Friends! Before I bid you all good day, though, I want to send a thousand thanks to:
