Top Ten Books I've Read in 2013 So Far

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme host over at The Broke and the Bookish!

I'm not sure what order to put these in, so they aren't really in order. Also, Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker is an honorable mention. So, yeah...

My Top Ten Books Read in 2013 So Far:

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)
I rave about this book all the time. IT IS SO FANTASTIC OHMYGOSH AHHHHH
One of my favorite books EVER, not just this year. It's rare that I read a book and I can't think of anything I do not like about the book. But...I honestly have trouble thinking of anything negative about this book.

The Collector by Victoria Scott
The Collector (Dante Walker, #1)
Dante's MY BOY. Goodness, this boy. LOVE. His book also sits on my all-time favorites shelf. Both literally and figuratively (Goodreads).
Oh, and V. That girl can WRITE. Also, I heart her face, but that has nothing to do with the book.

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire
Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)
Travis Maddox. There's just something about that guy...I don't know what it is exactly, but I LOVE it.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
I have no words. It is just so wonderful.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
The Fault in Our Stars
Now I REALLY have no words. Just tears.
My first John Green book, and it has definitely ensured that I'm going to read more. I need to put time in between them, though. My heart can't take them all at once.

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
Hopeless (Hopeless, #1)
I read this book only because I couldn't find any spoilers to tell me just what the what happens in this book to make everyone cry so freaking much after reading it. But now...I adore Colleen Hoover. Holder is one of my favorite book boys of all time. And Hopeless is one of my favorite books. Well played, Colleen. Well played.

Wait For You by J. Lynn
Wait for You (Wait for You, #1)
It's a book by JLA. Obviously I expected to love it. But I didn't expect to love it THIS much. I think about this book all the time now. I'll be having a conversation and for no reason whatsoever be reminded of Cam and Avery. Or I'll be eating a freaking COOKIE and start giggling because of Cam's cookies.

Hehehe

Stolen by Lucy Christopher
Stolen: A Letter to My Captor
Oh, this book. This book just affects me so much, there is no way I can't admit it's one of my favorites. I just THINK about this book...and Ty...enough and I start tearing up/CRYING MY FACE OFF. But I love it. And Ty. Even though I probably shouldn't.
AHH I'm so conflicted.

One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy
One Week Girlfriend (Drew + Fable, #1)
Drew + Fable just make me happy dance. That's all there is to it.
Monica Murphy's got skill, also.

A Different Blue by Amy Harmon
A Different Blue
My favorite word to use when talking about this book is "stunning." Because it without a doubt IS. And I still want to name something Darcy. Or Wilson. Or one thing Darcy and another thing Wilson. *swoons*

And...that's ten!

What do you think of my picks? What would YOU pick?

A Different Blue Blog Tour: Review of A Different Blue by Amy Harmon!

A Different BlueA Different Blue by Amy Harmon
Release Date: March 27, 2013
Format: ebook, 454 pages
Source: Author for review

Description from Goodreads:
Blue Echohawk doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know her real name or when she was born. Abandoned at two and raised by a drifter, she didn't attend school until she was ten years old. At nineteen, when most kids her age are attending college or moving on with life, she is just a senior in high school. With no mother, no father, no faith, and no future, Blue Echohawk is a difficult student, to say the least. Tough, hard and overtly sexy, she is the complete opposite of the young British teacher who decides he is up for the challenge, and takes the troublemaker under his wing.

This is the story of a nobody who becomes somebody. It is the story of an unlikely friendship, where hope fosters healing and redemption becomes love. But falling in love can be hard when you don't know who you are. Falling in love with someone who knows exactly who they are and exactly why they can't love you back might be impossible.

I recieved an ecopy of A Different Blue for the blog tour. It landed in my inbox, I sent it to my Kindle, and then when I did what I usually do and took a little peek at the beginning. Why? Because I was curious. I usually am. Especially considering I send books to my Kindle/recieve them in the mail on a daily basis and have to put them aside for goodness knows how long until I have time to read them. (Seriously. I just started a book today that I got for Christmas. BLAH.) So I usually peek at the beginning. Not the middle, not the end, just the beginning. I don't want to spoil it for myself. That would be terrible. But I peeked at the beginning of A Different Blue. And then I peeked at the next page. And the next page. Next thing I know, it's 3 AM and I'm 80% through with the book.

Um. Yeah. This book is THAT terrific.

It just flies by in a daze of awesomeness that you don't even notice until you have to pee or want a snack or something. And even then, you don't really care because, um, hey, you need to know how this story is going to end. Goodness, I love this book. My heart is smiling just thinking about it. Amy Harmon's writing was fabulous and the story itself was captivating. GOODNESS, HAVE I SAID I LOVE THIS BOOK YET?!?!

Character Rundown:
Blue: Ahh, how I love her name. Blue and I...we kind of have a love/hate relationship. Her attitude was fun, and even reminded me of a friend I actually have in real life. But some of the decisions she made...I did not like. Don't get me wrong--I agreed with, approved of, and respected A LOT of her choices, especially the BIG choice she made in this book. But there were some little, petty choices that I did not like. They aren't TOO important, but they were there, nonetheless. Overall, I'd say I actually like Blue. WOOT!

Wilson: Oh, this guy. He has me wanting to name something Wilson. Or Darcy. Or one thing Wilson and one thing Darcy. I just want to NAME things after this wonderful human being. (Well, book character, but...meh.) He made me smile so much! And his character shifted so much from the beginning of the book to the end of the book. I. Loved. It. He made some decisions I did not particularly like, too, but still--I adore him and he's my boy. <3

Plot. It seems so straightforward when you read the description, but...this book goes places I never thought it would. And it does that while still being exactly what it said it would be. It was actually completely riveting. I didn't get bored at all, and this book (i.e. my Kindle) was glued to my hand as I read the beautiful that IS this story. Have I mentioned that I love it? I want y'all to know that.

Romance! Oh. Oh man. It is there. And it is...stunning. Blue and Wilson are a fantastic couple. Honestly, that is all that NEEDS to be said there. I could say a whole bunch of other things, too, but I don't feel it's necessary. Not with these two. Just...sweetness. And love. And MY HEART. Gah.

The ending. I'm leaving this one alone this time, actually. Just because. I will say that the ending left me loving this book. As did THIS WHOLE BOOK. This whole book left me loving this book. The ending included.

Overall, Amy Harmon is being added to my list of authors to watch for. A Different Blue has rendered me speechless. It was captivating and beautiful, and I don't regret the sleep I lost reading this for a second. Not one second. Totally worth it. I DEFINITELY recommend this book. No doubt in my mind about that. READ THE AWESOME!
