I ended up liking the first book, Legacy WAY more than I thought I would. It pulled me in and I was reading that book like mad. It was great! So then I started the sequel, which is this book, Poison and my expectations were high, but they were also wary. I'm going to be honest and say that this book wasn't QUITE as good as the first, but it was still a nice, solid sequel that I definitely enjoyed reading.

Character Rundown:
Katy: I loved her in the last book, but she wasn't as fantastic in this one. She just seemed so needy sometimes. She wasn't bad the whole time, though. She was still strong when it came down to it, and I liked watching her handle situations with that confidence.

Peter: I will forever have Noah Shaw flashbacks every single time I see this boy's last name. But luckily they fade quickly because these boys are two totally different people, and I heart them both. I didn't think Peter really changed a bunch in this book. If anything, he got stronger. And THAT made me loads of happy. Yeah, I'll gladly call him my boy. <3

Plot. This story is separate from the first book. The characters are the same and the world is the same, but it's not like we were left on a cliffhanger and we NEEDED this book to figure out what came next. That said, this was a great sequel in terms of having things actually GOING ON. It wasn't just a filler book like some books are in trilogies. (Because I think this is going to be a trilogy, right?) So yay! There was a specific plot, some shockers, and stuff like that. WOOT!

Romantic things. This was better around the end. In the beginning and towards the middle, it was a little irritating because Peter was so distant and Katy was so needy. But then they got better and I liked it more and all was well. I still like this couple. :)

The ending. ...I'm definitely going to be reading the third book, which I looked up last night and will be called Seduction. So...yeah. The ending was good. And now I want book 3.

Overall, Poison was a really good sequel, and a nice addition to the series. While not quite as great as the first book, it still held its own and left me wanting more.

Look at that cover. Looks badass, eh? And the description. Sounds awesome and interesting, right? Sadly, this was one of those books that LOOKED in all ways, shapes, and forms like something I was going to love, but I just...didn't.

I'm not exactly sure what happened with this book. I adored the premise and was excited to meet and get to know the characters--especially the two boys. Then I started the book, and it started off strong and interesting. But then the story went on, and I had a really hard time figuring out WHAT was going on. I didn't see the point of anything. I STILL don't understand what the point was. Like, the reason behind anything the characters do at any point in time. EXCEPT for Felicia wanting to find Neil. That was all that made sense to me.

Character Rundown:
Felicia: The cover tries to convince us that Felicia is going to be one of those kickass heroines we all love. That is a lie. I found Felicia really boring. And whiny. and I can't see why Neil OR Julian care about her at all. Especially Julian, since she's such a witch to him a majority of the time. Felicia just was not the character for me.

Julian: I thought I was on his team for a majority of the book, and maybe I still am? I have no clue. I'm still completely confused as to what his character IS. At first he seemed cool and kind, but then as we saw more of Felicia's memories with him...well, he turned into something like a jerk. But he still had sweet moments. And THAT is where my dilemma lies. Either way, his character confuses me. Sounds attractive, though.

Neil: Neil is the perfect boy. And I don't mean in a Aiden MacRae kind of way. I mean in a preppy kind of way that would be obnoxious if it weren't Neil. But Neil is sweet and caring, and I hear he has one hell of a singing voice. So I think I might be on his team after the ending of this book. He's clearly the sweetheart of this love triangle. I also think his shyness was adorable. And he also sounds attractive.

Plot. I have no idea what the plot was. Like, if you were to draw a plot diagram and told me to fill everything out, I'd only be able to fill out half of it. MAYBE. The idea for this story was so promising. So, so promising. I think stopping every page or two to relive Felicia's memories from when she alive slowed things down A LOT. It also scrambled up the story so that I could never quite catch on to what they were doing, who they were running from, what they were fighting for. The beginning of this story was stong, but after she leaves the hive with Julian, things get hard to understand.

Couples! There are two here. Julian & Felicia and Neil & Felicia. I like Neil & Felicia better because there is no Autumn in this equation. Um, yeah. There's another girl in the Julian + Felicia thing. I don't like that AT ALL. I get jealous. Plus, it makes it hard for me to believe Julian's feelings and whatnot. But Neil...he's just so adorable and cute! He's straightforward. He's pretty much the exact opposite of Julian. Huh. I think this paragraph means that I'm Team Neil. Ha.

The ending. There's supposed to be a sequel called Level 3. With the way this one ended...I guess it was open-ended. It would have been fine as a stand-alone, too. But anyway, I feel like this ending was somewhat rushed. And, again, I'm somewhat foggy on what happened. I mean, I THINK I got it, but I'm not exactly sure.

Overall, I just don't think this book was for me. Lenore clearly has writing skills, but those were lost on me since I was too busy trying to figure out why everything was happening a majority of the time. I truly think other people will be able to enjoy this book. So, give it a shot if you want. If it looks like something you'd like, I don't see why not. Personally, I plan on reading the sequel. Because I still want to give this series a shot. I think I might give THIS one another try again sometime, after reading some other things first. Maybe I'll like it better next time around.

Trevor. Ohmygosh ohmygosh OH. MY. GOSH. I am fangirling so hard right now, you don’t even know. I cannot believe you are on my blog right now! Welcome, welcome! Hey girl—thank you so much for the fangirling. It’s bloggers like you who get my story out there and I can’t thank you enough.

Thank you so much for stopping by to chat with me! About Valentine’s Day. Ahhh, Valentine’s Day. ;)

So, what is YOUR opinon on V-Day? What does it mean to you? Does it matter? Or is it just whatever? Why? The Big V-day hasn’t always been on my radar but this year I’ve got someone who I want to make smile a little bigger on that day. Yeah, my T-shirt says stupid cupid right now but I don’t mean it I’m just trying to throw her off. I want her surprised LOL!

Oh, OH. What does your t-shirt say right now? Ha! I read your mind and answered your question before I even read it. I must be evolving after all.

 

If this changes at any point during this interview, I’d very much like to be notified. I LOVE your ever-changing item of clothing. I wish I had a t-shirt that cool. I’ll keep you posted. I told my author that if we sell enough books we HAVE to make T-shirts with real Trevor sayings on them.

Hmmm. Now that I’m thinking of your t-shirt…do you have a special message you put on it for Valentine’s Day? Or is it just the usual changes-with-the mood? I’m staying below the radar before I spring my surprise on my girl, don’t want to tip my hand, but maybe I’ll have to take the T-shirt off later—ya know—so I don’t get all sappy and pour my heart out on my sleeve or in this case, my chest. * wink * She might not mind, right?

Do you have someone special to spend V-Day with? (If not…ahem, HI. Have I mentioned that I heart you?) I’m completely flattered, but have you seen my girl? She has a temper LOL! I don’t want to put you in any danger.

If you say yes, then are you the kind of guy who makes big plans? Or do you just go with the flow? I’m a secret planner. A lot of work goes into looking this casual and laid back.

I keep asking this question, and I feel whinier and whinier every time, but I’m not going to just leave you out of this whine-fest. So, here goes. My birthday is on February 12^th! Super duper close to V-Day. What is YOUR opinion on whether or not people should lump my day together with V-Day? I should point out that I am not the biggest fan of this practice. My T-shirt now says dump the lump! Every body  needs to have their own special birthday moment. Don’t let them do the Jedi mind trick on you!

Do you see how that question was whiny? Or maybe I just THINK it’s whiny. Or maybe it’s my clever way of making sure SOMEONE knows when my birthday is… I just put it in my iPhone. Even put in a little alert. Oh, wait—you didn’t mean me. T-shirt says blushing… Who are you talking about???

 

Ha, the world may never know.

Quick question: Have you seen the movie Valentine’s Day? What do you think of it? Just curious. That’s V-Day related. TOTALLY RELATED. Ummmm no, I haven’t. But I’m still on T-shirt slogans for your birthday... Me-day NOT V-day! How’s that? I do have a list of movies I need to see now that you mention it. Argo, Silver Linings Play Book, Zero Dark Thirty, Lincoln. Did you know Abe was a Passenger at one point for a friend of mine?

 

Okay, I’m holding back from asking you more “quick questions.” I kind of don’t want this interview to be over. I’m so glad you’re here! LOL! We’ll just have to do this again sometime. But let’s turn this on its head and let me ask you a question. Which one of my T-shirt slogans is your favorite? Oh, and Oliver is pouting because he didn’t think of the T-shirt thing first. Please tell him that baseball hat slogans aren’t nearly as cool.

So we’re here to talk about Valentine’s Day. Some people are huge fans of this holiday and other people think it’s the dumbest thing to ever exist. What’s YOUR opinion? Why?

Valentine’s Day is a great holiday when you’ve got someone to share it with.  It can be pretty lonely, too. *looks longingly to Jessica*  I bet you’ve got plans already, right?

I don’t know, Daniel. Do we have plans?

*cocks head to the side* You’re playing, right?

Ha, random, but have you seen the movie Valentine’s Day? What do you think of it? Unless you haven’t seen it. Then we’ll have to do that together sometime! Or even if you have…

I’ve never seen it, but I could be persuaded.  *Looks at watch*  Right now, if you want?  I mean, after we finish the interview, if you’re free.

HAAAA. After the interview, we’ll totally work something out. ;)

*cheesy grin* Well, what do you wanna know?  Let’s get this over. . . I mean. . . ask away.

Soooooooo. V-Day is one of those holidays you spend with a special little someone. Do you have someone you plan on spending it with? Do you have PLANS, like, in general? If so, what exactly might these plans be? The people of my blog would truly like to know.

*Sigh* No.  No one special again this year.  It’s only a couple days away.  I imagine you’ve had people vying to take you out for months, right?  *Questioning Look* No?  Well, let me see if I can convince you to spend it with me.  We could start out with a candle-lit dinner, not in some pretentious place, but somewhere intimate – just you and me.  After dinner we’ll slip off our shoes and look for shells on the beach.  If things work out, I’m pretty handy at building a fire with driftwood.  *Eyes boring into Jessica’s*  So, are you in?

*swoons*

Let’s go book-related a little for a second. I promise it’s V-day related, too! Okay?

Crap, that last answer was too over-the-top, wasn’t it?  Okay, we could do pizza and watch ESPN at my place.

Ohhh, no. You were good with the first plan. Trust me.

But we don’t have to rule out pizza. Heh. Ohh! Or we could do chicken wings. Mild. Just, you know…just a suggestion.

Mild?  I would have pegged you for spicy.  Like, a gallon of water, spicy. 

You REALLY liked/loved Camille last time we talked. What’s it like to know that she’s going to be spending Valentine’s Day with her new boy toy? (Hehe, Drake’s awesome, by the way.)

Man, here we go again.  Cami’s a girl I’ll always love.  Don’t get me wrong, if I offered to have an intimate dinner with her on the beach, she’d turn me down cold and then probably punch me in the nose for good measure.  That doesn’t have anything to do with her current relationship; she would have turned me down cold before she met Drake.  What’s it like to know she’s going to be with Drake?  He’s a loser.  I’d rather she spend Valentine’s Day with anyone but him.

Awww, I’m sad you think Drake’s a loser. He can actually be a sweetheart, you know.

A sweetheart?  Cami and I have been friends since the third grade.  We didn’t have our first argument until he came in the picture.  She’s too good for him.  Give her some time, she’ll see she can do better. 

Before, did you ever spend Valentine’s Day with Camille? If yes, you guys weren’t a couple then. What did y’all do?

Well, sure.  We were each other’s “plus one.”  Every time we went somewhere where we were supposed to have a date, we went together.  We spent lots of Valentine’s Days together.  It was usually dinner and a movie. Nothing special.  *Furrows brow*  Scratch that, it was always special, just never lovey-dovey. 

*cough*you are so cute*cough*

Fun fact: My birthday? Yeah, it’s on February 12^th. (I may or may not hope you already knew this…) Obviously, that is miiiighty close to V-Day. Did you know that I know a bunch of people who like to mush my birthday with V-Day? I do not like this. They aren’t on the same day or really connected at all. Now, if my birthday were ON Valentine’s Day, then I’d deal, but it’s not. So. What do YOU think about this? Or do you have no opinion and just think I’m being whiny? Because I’m REEEALLY starting to feel whiny about this.

*Smirks* I did know today was your birthday.  I think anyone who would miss the opportunity to celebrate the day you were born is a boob.  *pulls out package from back pocket*  Don’t open this in front of everybody.  It’s personal.  *places package in Jessica’s hand and winks*

Huh. I wonder who this special girl will be. I know *I* can’t wait to read about her.

Oh, and, aha, this is me being completely curious. Does everyone call you Daniel? Like, does anyone call you Danny or just Dan or something? Any nicknames? I feel bad for tacking this on at the end of the interview, but the question literally JUST popped into my head.

Everyone calls me Daniel, *Takes Jessica’s hand* but, you can call me any name you want.

Another blog tour book. Isn't the cover GORGEOUS? It's new adult (which I LOVE) and definitely seems like something that's going to make me swoon. Yay! Thank you to the author and RABT for sending me this ecopy for review.
