Top Ten Book Covers I'd Like to Take a Crack at Redesigning

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

I'm warning y'all now--this is going to be a lot of me being super picky. Like, for real. I will be nitpicking the crap out of these things.

6780439
I don't even care about the design. I personally have no ideas what to put on here. No, I'd keep the same design but instead of this random chick, I'd put on someone who ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE THE MAIN CHARACTER. Or, heck, it doesn't even have to be the MC. It can be a supporting character. But it has to be someone in the book somewhere, otherwise this is pointless. So yeah, that's what I'd do.

17754041
I would change nothing about this cover except to go back to the beauty it was before the box

Fallen (Fallen, #1)
This whole series actually has gorgeous covers and I love them. BUT I want to go back to them all and chop her hair off. Her hair is supposed to be SHORT. She singed most of it before the first book even started and chopped off the remaining little, pathetic bit. It shouldn't be long.

Night World, No. 3 (Night World, #7-9)
Who is this character supposed to be? Seriously, I want to know. Because I've tried to figure it out for FOREVER now. I know No. 1 was Poppy. And No. 2 was Roshel. But I don't know who this is. Illiana? Because that's not how I picture her. The only character in this series I could see this one as would be Kestrel, and she was all the way back on Daughters of Darkness--No. 1. So I'd put a character on here that was actually recognizably in one of these books. Probably Keller, because she ended up with Galen and I heart him big time.

Origin (Lux, #4)
I'm actually not going to complain about anything here. I know some people hate the color scheme and that it's only Pepe and blah blah blah, but I'm cool with this one. I think this one is actually the most accurate of all the covers; it does a fantastic job of representing what's inside. No, I just want to redesign this so I can be the one to go through pictures of Pepe and whatnot to make the cover. That would be SUCH a hard job, but I'd be willing to do it. You know...for the sake of a great cover.

The Angels Trilogy (Angels Trilogy, #1-3)
This is one of my favorite omnibuses. (Is that the plural for that? Hmm.) I get that it's plain because of the Amish subject and whatnot, but I wish it would be more eye-catching so more people would pick it up and love it as much as I do. Even though the ending pisses me off every time.

Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)
I don't want there to be people on these covers. It just does not work. I'd rather there were some symbol or something for something important in these. Because that is not Sydney and that sure as heck is NOT Adrian. Ha. No.

The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend
This book is fabulous! The cover not so much. That stupid gum irritates me so much. And the font...and...I don't like this at all. Bleh. I don't know what I'd do instead, but I can assure you it'd have not a thing to do with bubblegum, which is already and improvement.

Embrace (The Violet Eden Chapters, #1)
By itself, I don't really have a problem with this cover. But when you set it next to the other books in the series, this one isn't as great. So I'd just like to work it up a bit to be on the same level as the rest.

The Forever of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #2)
It annoys me that there is an engagement ring on this cover. Because that implies that there will be happiness and togetherness and marriage and all that fun stuff. WAY OFF. This book is full of insecurity and arguments. Then there is making up and sweetness, but still--the ring isn't as important as this cover makes it seem. A ring doens't even come into play until LATE in the book. Like, laaaaaate. So I'd choose something else. A guitar, maybe. I don't know. Just not a ring.

So...what do ya think? Let me know! Did you make a list? Link me up!

Top Ten Sequels I Am Making Serious Grabby Hands For

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead
The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines, #4)
I am loving this series. I'm still so glad this one is for ADRIAN. He deserves some books for him. Even more, I cannot wait to get into his head and see what goes on there. ;)

The Warrior by Victoria Scott
The Warrior (Dante Walker, #3)
Dante is my boy. I'm so sad his trilogy is coming to an end, and I'm most likely going to cry when this one lands in my inbox, but I am still super excited to get into Dante's head again for more of his story.

Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor
Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3)
I adore this trilogy. Laini Taylor writes so beautifully and I am dying inside waiting for the this third book. I am completely terrified about what's possibly going to happen, but I WANT TO REEEEEAD IIIIIIT, ya know?

Be With Me by J. Lynn
Be with Me (Wait for You, #2)
I know this one isn't about Cam and Avery, but I'm immensely excited to see them when they pop up in this one. Plus, the first chapter of this in the back of Wait For You? SO. GOOD. I want more.

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss, #3)
This one's for Josh. JOSH. JOSH!!!! Needless to say, I am very excited about this.

The One by Kiera Cass
The One (The Selection, #3)
If America doesn't pick Maxon, I will cry. I LOVE HIM.

  King Cave by Scarlett Dawn
King Hall (Forever Evermore, #1)
King Cave doesn't have a cover image yet, so I'm using book one. ANYWAYS, I crush all over Ezra. And with the ending to book one, I am in serious need of book two. This is one that I am going to drop everything for the moment I get my hands on it.

  Love Unrehearsed by Tina Reber
Love Unrehearsed (Love, #2)
This one's already out, but I don't have it yet, which means GRABBY HANDS. I loved the first one and want this one so freaking bad. Like, for real, I can't even.

 Three by Kristen Simmons
Three (Article 5, #3)
I heart Chase so hard, I can't even. This series is so great and booook threeeeeeee!!!!

Heaven Prays, Hell Preys by Caitin Elyse
Heaven Prays, Hell Preys (The Immortal Wars, #2)
This is another one that's already out, but I'm still waiting to get my hands on it. The first book is one of my favs, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next in this story. Also: STORM!!! <3

What do you think of my list? Did you make your own? Leave me a link so I can check it out!

Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout Blog Tour ♥ APOLLYON Day (Teasers & Giveaway!)

http://www.stuckinbooks.com/p/sentinel-by-jennifer-l-armentrout-tour.html
Hi, people! So. I was originally going to review Apollyon, since I have yet to do that, but life did its funky thing and I have to hold off on my review until next week sometime. So for now, I'm posting TEASERS!

Okay, okay. I know what you're thinking. "TEASERS, Jessica? We've all already read the aweosmeness that is this book. You're the only one who's been slow about this."

I know. For real, I know. BUT. This is a walk down memory lane, right? Remember after we finished Deity and we were all flipping out over that ending, how Alex was smiling and we were like AWW AIDEN and were like holy crap WTF is Jen going to do? And then in the months before we got our hands on this beauty, Jen was posting teasers.

Remember how those teasers made us feel? Excited, terrified, and then excited all over again--even more so. THAT is why I'm doing this.

Plus, it's cool to look back on what used to tease us and know that we know exactly what was going on in that scene--often, for me anyway, what I imagined turned out to be nothing like what I imagined it would be.

So. TEASERS!

(I'm grabbing these from Deity Island, because Vi has always been amazing at keeping up with what Jen teases us with. Oh, and these probably aren't ALL the teasers EVER. Just some.)

Teaser #1:

Teaser #2:

My feet touched the ground and I took a step forward—one, and then another. And Aiden didn’t move. He waited. It was in those eyes of his, the finality of this. He wouldn’t win, he couldn’t and he knew it. Aiden accepted it. As I reached him, the rain stopped and the clouds parted. The sun followed my footsteps. “Alex.” Aiden’s voice was broken. Like a cobra striking, I took Aiden’s legs out from under him and he was on his back before another breath could be taken. Straddling him, I placed my hands on his shoulders. The marks of the Apollyon glowed a vibrant blue and raced over my skin. I leaned in, placing my lips above his and the words that came out of my mouth were mine… but weren’t. “All moments end, Saint Delphi. And now yours has.” I pressed my lips to the corner of his and he flinched. “You are weak because you love.” Aiden stared up at me, unblinking. “To love is not weak. Love is the strongest thing there is.” My lips curved into a smile. Idiot.

Teaser #3:

His all-white eyes gleamed. “I’ve seen it all in battle. There is the way the body curls into itself when it wants death. There is the silent scream for release. There are the eyes, and they speak even when the tongue no longer works. And then there is the soul that rots so poorly when death is wanted but withheld that it carries a certain stench.” Ice shot through my veins, turning my blood to slush. At that moment I knew no matter how much I fought, this… this was going to suck.

Teaser #4:

“One down,” I said, turning around. “Who’s ne—?”
Thanatos tossed Marcus to the ground, deflected Solos’ attack, and turned on me in a nanosecond. It was pretty epic.
A bolt of white light flew from Thanatos’ hand and there wasn’t a single thing in this world that could move fast enough. Not even Seth, I was betting.
It hit me just below the chest and my legs collapsed from underneath me. Red-hot, searing pain sliced through my skin and my face smacked off the ground. I didn’t even feel it. There was nothing but the razing pain locking up my muscles.
God bolts sucked.
Aiden yelled my name, and then I thought I heard my name called again, but it was inside my head, loud, and so very angry… and it sounded like Seth.
Without any warning, the ground trembled under my twitching body. A flash of golden light cascaded through the clearing. Warmth stole over my body. Weakly, I lifted my head.
Two leather-clad legs stood before me.
“That is enough, Thanatos.” Apollo’s voice was calm, but it was that creepy, deadly calm I never wanted to be on the receiving end of.
“N-n-nice of y-you to s-show up,” I gasped.
“Shut up, Alex.” Apollo strode forward. A ray of light followed his steps.

Teaser #5:

“They do.” Apollo’s eyes narrowed on me. “But I was hoping there was something knocking around in her brain that held the answer to that little problem. But—” Apollo smacked a hand down on my leg. “Must you always be moving some part of your body?”
I glared at him as I not-so-gently removed his hand. The contact of his flesh on mine brought the marks of Apollyon out like nothing else. And I knew he saw them by the way his eyes darted over my face. “It’s not hurting you,” I said.
“It’s annoying.”
“You’re annoying,” I shot back.
Teaser #6:

Teaser #7:

Teaser #8:
Absolute power—unforgiving and hard, pure as it was deadly— coursed over my skin. I reared back, summoning the fifth and final element. Intense blue light erupted from my palm. Akasha ripped from me, arcing through the air like cloud-to-cloud lightning, homing in on its target and striking true. The sky crackled and heated. One second, the automaton was on his knee, and the next he was nothing but a pile of shimmery dust. “Good gods,” came Olivia’s hoarse whisper. Another automaton took the fallen one’s place, swinging out with a metal hand that clinked and clicked. Fire sparked from its open mouth. I spun, catching the broad side of his arm and twisting. The hoarse shout of pain was lost in the clash of metal, the thunder of bullets finding another automaton. It raised its bull face and snapped at me with massive jaws. “Please.” I placed my hand on the massive forehead. Blue light coursed over the head and down the body, lightening up the metallic skull and bone structure. For a moment, it was like a pretty x-ray or a jellyfish—a really disturbing jellyfish—and then cobalt light radiated from its eyes and open mouth. It imploded—caved in on itself, turning to nothing but dust. And then the crap really hit the fan. The automatons—every last one of the freaky bull things—turned on me. They moved quickly, metal legs rattling and clinking. Fire spewed from their mouths like the poor man’s version of a dragon. They came from all directions, Apollyon-seeking missiles with “Kill Alex” stamped all over them. Fire came from them, blinding and intense. Nothing existed outside the flames. No sound. No sight. My world was red and orange... And my world was tinted in amber. Alex? His voice came through the thrumming connection. I ignored him and the way his consciousness slid in alongside mine. What are you up to?

Teaser #9:

"Sounds like a smart idea." Dark humor laced Aiden's voice. "You might want to get your gun off my brother's face while you're at it."

Teaser #10:

And that's it for the teasers!

Now, for other stuffy stuff...
Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release Date: April 4, 2013
Pagecount: 343
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Series: Covenant #4
Buy It: Amazon | B&N

Description from Goodreads:
Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.
