My Psychology Project (Part 2)

If you currently staring at the screen going "Part 2? Say whaaaat?" Then I am going to point you toward this post and this post. They're both pretty much identical, but there are different comments in each place, so if you want to see that, you should check out both posts.

For my psychology project, I chose to do an observation on perception. When we see things that are similar placed near each other, usually in something of an orderly fashion, we tend to group them together. I decided to see how that grouping would go if I arranged books in certain ways, to see if people could see the way I set up the books the way I did, or if they saw something completely different, or even if the whole line of books simply looked like a line of randomness that apparently meant something to me but nothing to you.

There were bunches of comments (of which I am SO thankful for, so thank you very much if you took the time to leave a comment on one of the posts), and I found it incredibly interesting to see what people said, especially the ones that were somewhat more difficult to figure out--some of y'all got creative.

So now I'm going to go through all five pictures and tell you:
- How I actually DID organize the books
- What I expected a majority of responses would be
- What the majority of responses actually WERE
- Any other type of observation/commentary that may or may not pop into my head at any given moment

Okay?

Okay.

Photo #1
Everyone got this one right--these are organized by color. Blue, red, green, black. What I found most interesting about this one was the few people (very few--no more than a handful of people) who took the time in their responses to list out the colors, or to specify the pattern the colors go in. I never would have considered asking you guys to list that, because I thought this one was super easy. I honestly didn't expect anyone to get this one wrong. So if this were a test or something, y'all would totally have aced it.

Photo #2
Most of you got this one right--these are grouped by series, and they're in order within that group. All I was looking for was for you to tell me that it was grouped by series, though. The most common response that WASN'T series was author, which is actually true. If it's a series, then of course the author is a constant in each little grouping. I'd expected people to get that they're all grouped by their series, but I never even considered them being seen as grouped by their authors. The most intriguing response on this one was that they were in order by the height of the first book in the series. I didn't even notice that these pretty much ARE in order by the height of the first book in each series. The Secret Circle books look a little out of that order and maybe Blue is For Nightmares, but other than that, the height thing is a perfectly reasonable guess.

Photo #3
I actually didn't plan this one to be too difficult, but some people had trouble with it. These ones are in order alphabetically by title. According to people I know, Beautiful Disaster threw them off, because they saw the DISASTER and missed the BEAUTIFUL, because of the fonts. Don't get me wrong, a lot of you DID guess this one, but I didn't really think this one would have much variation. Someone guessed that this one was in order by genre, and another said that this one seemed to be in order by heartbreak/sadness. That one is without a doubt the most interesting response here. I personally don't think these are in order by heartbreak/sadness, but that is also subjective. There are more than a few books in this picture that pulled at my heartstrings.

Oh, and to the person who said that this one looked like a mess--until they enlarged it and saw the titles...HA! You legit made me laugh. :)

Photo #4
This was the one that the most people had trouble with, which is exactly what I expected. I have these books grouped by publisher, and most people wouldn't look for that. A bunch of people did get this one, but a bunch of people didn't, too. They guessed, or they said they had no clue, or they were honest and told me they could think of nothing before looking at other comments and realizing they were grouped by pub. Since this one was harder to get, there were a lot of guesses. Author, publication date, genre (specifically paranormal), color, and a few people actually guessed that these were my favorite books. Which is something of a valid guess, since Fangirl is in there, along with representation from most of my favorite series/authors. But there are also eight books in this picture that I haven't read. There was no way for you to know that, though--which again means that the favorites guess could certainly be valid.

Also, to the girl that followed my lead and answered this one with "I DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ...you made me laugh as well. I feel like the people who made me laugh should get bonus points or something.

Photo #5
Like the first photo, I figured this one was a piece of cake--and y'all proved me right. Everyone got this correct. The books are in order by height/size, smallest to largest. There wasn't too much variation in these answers, seeing as this one wasn't really hard to guess. My favorite answer, though, was "Ascending book height..." because I like fancy words. Sometimes. And at this point in time, I see "ascending" as a fancy word. You know, at first, I was kind of worried no one would get this one because I thought the height change was too subtle. I realize that thought was completely silly now, but still. I worried for a bit. And then I posted, and everyone was getting it right, and I did my happy dance.

Conclusion
I originally thought up this project and went through with it because I thought it could be a fun way to incorporate something I'm interested in and love (books) with school, in a way that didn't involve writing an essay or something for English class. Now, I'm actually super glad I chose to do this. It's kind of crazy town how some of the responses were nothing like anything I would have imagined y'all saying. I never considered that photo #4 would get such a wide range of guesses. I never thought that photo #3 would lead someone to think of the level of heartbreak in each novel. And that's the point of this project--we all perceive things in different ways, because all of our minds work differently. I definitely had a plan when I organized these books, and a lot of people figured out what each of those plans were. But others didn't. They saw things in a different way, imagined the books grouped together in a different way.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that this project turned out to be really cool to me, and a lot more fun than any other idea I could have thought up. I seriously loved reading all the responses as they trickled in.

And on that note, I shall end this unbelievably long post. Again, thank you so much to everyone who participated and helped me out by responding to the posts--whether it was on Bookish, here, or some other way for whatever reason, all of your guesses were so helpful, and I appreciate all your pretty faces. :)

My Psychology Project (Part 1)

As many of you probably know, I am in high school. Which means aside from reading ALL OF THE TIME, I also go to school and do homework and blah blah blah. One of those classes I take in school is psychology. (Surprising, right? Not like it's in the title of the post or anything.) For that class, we have to do a project, and I'm here asking for your help.

I'm doing my project on perception and similarity, and how our minds group together things when we see them. So for this, I'm going to post five pictures. Each of them will be of books (which explains why I'm asking for YOUR help, yes?). All I need you to do is comment on this post telling me how you think I organized the books in each photo.

A few things:

- I am posting this same exact post over on Bookish, so if you already commented over there, there is no need for you to do so in both places. Unless you really want to, I guess...then I can't stop you... But seriously. Not necessary.

- As you can probably tell, each line of books is organized differently. So in your comment, you'll have five answers. It's not going to be just one answer that you puzzle out. So you comment should (ideally) look something like this:
1. By publication date
2. By author's last name
...etc.

- I did NOT just give away any answers with that example in the last bullet point.

- This is not a riddle at all, actually. You aren't really figuring anything out. It's just about how YOU perceive these books to be organized.

- If you have no clue how one of the lines is organized and can't think of anything, then just say so. Seriously. Be like:
1. By publication date
2. By author's last name
3. I HAVE NO CLUE WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS ONE SO CHAOTIC? (Or something to that effect. Though CAPS aren't necessary. But I can't really tell you what to do, so...) :)
...etc.

- If you need to enlarge any of the pictures to view them better, then just click on the one you want to enlarge.

- If you are confused or I didn't explain anything right, or ANYTHING, just let me know. You can comment here or you can tweet me or you can email me. Whatever floats your awesome boat.

Okay?

Okay.

And that's it! Thank you so much for helping me out, and if you could spread the word about this post, I would really appreciate it. If you want to know how I actually did organize the books in each of the pictures, then drop by my blog in the middle of next week (late Tuesday/early Wednesday)*. I'll post Part 2 of my project then, which will contain the results in the form of the most common responses and will ultimately be the link I send to my teacher.

I'm on Team Bookish!

Hey, y'all! Long time, no updates, hmm? The end of the school year is getting closer and closer, which means finals are coming up, too. Honestly, I'm pretty much exempt from finals, and I'm pretty much done with LEARNING for the year, but I do have two classes where I am finishing stuff up. Not only that, but I still have to wake up early and go to school every day, which makes me so tired when I get home, and...ha, I've taken to napping.

So yeah. Free time has been minimal. BUT, my last day is on June 4th. That's only a little over a week away. Which means I'll have more time for blogging--and I mean ACTUALLY blogging, not just reviewing when I realize I signed up for something--and actually interacting with you guys again. WOOT. I'll do a giveaway sometime to get things rolling and it'll be lots of fun. You shall see.

But now to the title of this post. Team Bookish! Y'all know Evie from Bookish, yes? If you don't you should get acquainted with her blog, because I have officially joined her team over there!

Okay, okay. You're staring at the screen right now asking "What the... WHAT is this chick talking about?!?!"

Well, hold your horses, book lover! I shall explain.

About two weeks ago, Evie posted that she was looking for reviewers. She described the different kinds of reviewers she was looking for and what each would need to do. I, obviously, saw the post and decided to apply as her indie review. Why? Because I heart my indie peeps! And I totally thought I could do it. I also didn't think there was a chance in the world that Evie would actually pick ME.

But she did.

So now I'm the Indie Enthusiast over at Bookish! You can check out the welcome post HERE. It's, like, officially offical now, you guys. EEEEP!

What does this mean?

Well, it means that I'm going to be reviewing at least three indie books a month over at Bookish. I'm still going to be running my blog like always. I don't plan on slowing down (well, as of June 4th, after school is over, obviously) and I don't plan on not reviewing indie books over here. Nothing will change except some books reviewed over there. I might even do some author/character interviews over there, too. Pretty much, I'll have some Indie fun over there, while still having ALL KINDS of fun over here.

Don't get me wrong, though. I am SO. NEGIRBGIAEWBG! That I am a part of Team Bookish. It's a big deal to me. Seriously. Ask my mom. She was there when I got the email that I was chosen.

I'll be adding the books I review over there to my Review Archive, too, and I'll add to my About Me, and all that fun stuff. I'll differentiate in my review archive for the reviews that are reviewed over there, of course. I WILL NOT, however, be cross-reviewing. I will not post my reviews here that I'm posting there. Nope. Not happening. I will be posting them to Goodreads as always, though.

So...yeah. I think that's all I had to tell you in this post. It's a lot of typing, if you ask me. Whoa. If anything didn't make sense or you have any questions, just email me at makesmeworse12@gmail.com, tweet me at @makesmeworse12, or leave a comment! If you lave a comment, though, make sure you check back for a response.

In a nutshell, though, here is what I've just told you:
- School is almost over. Please stick around until then, when I have more free time.
- I am now the Indie Enthusiast over at Bookish!
- Check out the welcome post HERE!
- My blog will still be run as normal. Nothing will change.
- I will put ALL my reviews, including the ones from Bookish, in my archive.
- I am so excited to be part of Team Bookish!

Got that? GOOD. I might do a post at the end of the month with links to anything I did over at Bookish, but I'm not sure yet. I always plan for end-of-the-month posts, but have a tendency to forget to actually DO them. So we'll see.

Thank you guys for being so awesome!

And that's it! Time for me to go find somewhere to pass out for a few hours. Seriously, it's, like, 3 AM here. Yawn.

Fun or None?--Finally Friday!

Fun or None?
Today's my first day of summer vacation! Thank you, sweet goodness. For today's Fun Hop post, we're doing Finally Friday! This is where we tell y'all ten books we are counting down the days for and why.
Let's get to it, yes?

1. ONYX by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Onyx (Lux, #2)
Yeah, that's right--I'm already waiting on Onyx when I haven't even read Obsidian yet. Why? Two words: Daemon. Black. 'Nuff said.

2. THE EVOLUTION OF MARA DYER by Michelle Hodkin
The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #2)
If you've read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, then the reason for this one is obvious.

3. DEARLY, BELOVED by Lia Habel
Dearly, Beloved (Gone With the Respiration #2)
Yeah, another sequel. What can I say, I need more!

4. UNRAVEL ME by Tahereh Mafi
This one doesn't even have a cover yet, but I am so excited for it! I positively adored the first book, Shatter Me!
Since there's not a cover for me to link to Goodreads, you can click HERE to see the GR page!

5. THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT by Veronica Rossi
The sequel to Under the Never Sky. I adored that book as well! The best book I've read so far this year, for sure!
Again, since there's no cover yet, click HERE to see the GR page!

6. THE RAVEN BOYS by Maggie Stiefvater
The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle, #1)
Yay! I'm finally not listing a sequel! And this one has a cover to click on! I love Maggie. So of course I cannot wait for her next book!

7. TEN by Gretchen McNeil
Ten
This book? Looks so great. Every booklover I know and their mother wants to read this one. So of course I can be added to this list (though I'm sad to say my mother can not).

8. THROUGH TO YOU by Emily Hainsworth
Through To You
Another book that looks purley awesome!

9. FALLING FOR YOU by Lisa Schroeder
Falling For You
I LOVE Lisa Schroeder. Her books never fail to be wonderful. So I can't wait for her next one!

10. JUST ONE DAY by Gayle Forman
Sorry, another one without a cover for now. I love If I Stay and Where She Went so oh very much. They still make me cry and laugh and I adore them. These books just tug at my heart. Gayle is definitely one of my favorite authors.
Since there is not a cover yet, click HERE to go to the Goodreads page!

And that's it for my ten books. Remember that this was only TEN. I'm counting down the days, hours, minutes to more than just these books.

Time for me to Randomly Rant

All right, so I'm seriously going to do what the title of this post says - randomly rant. What about, you ask? Weeeeell, last week in school, I was in class with this girl - I'm not going to tell her name because it is not important to my main point. I sit next to her in one of my classes and, to be perfectly honest, she is not always the nicest to me. I mean, she's okay a lot of the time, but there are certain instances where she does hurt my feelings or make me mad. I don't really do anything about this, though, becasue I'm not a hostile person. Arguments just don't fly with me most of the time.

For the record, I am very good at arguing, I just don't like the angry part. Anger unsettles me.

Anyways, we were in class and we had to answer some questions and then go over our answers with groups. This girl was in my group. Now, here's where I start to get to the point - she looked at one of my answers and CHANGED WHAT I WROTE.

Yeah, I said it. CHANGED WHAT I WROTE. This was a class with computers, so she grabbed my keyboard and backspaced some things away and typed in what she thought was better. She told me that the way I had originally began the sentences was, and I quote, "not professional enough." Urm, what? We are in a high school class with a teacher who knows me and knows how I write and has not expressed any problems with this at all throughout the schoolyear.

Now, I don't remember exactly what I wrote, but I know that the sentence started with the word "Honestly. . ." I don't see the problem with that. Plus, I write how I write. Everyone writes things differently. It was a complete sentence, gramatically correct without a doubt (I am somewhat of a grammar fanatic, always correcting myself when I notice I mess up in conversation, and sometimes correcting people I know well because I'm weird like that), so no one has a right to tell me what I wrote was not correct.

In case you hadn't noticed, I tend to write how I talk. If we were talking in person and I was talling you this story, I would have actually said "urm" where I wrote it. I would have probably used hand gestures and spoke a little louder as I said "CHANGED WHAT I WROTE." That's just how I am. I like to use my words to express who I am - in ALL situations. On my blog and in school, too.

So, what is my point in this whole post? Well, I'm thinking that it's somewhere along the lines of DON'T TELL ME HOW TO WRITE. Or maybe the slightly tweaked DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO WRITE. I think both would suffice. I am me and I write the way I choose to. Just like you are you and write the way you choose to. We all have this right and no one should be able to correct us when we are using our voices. Now, there is a difference between what I'm talking about and critiquing or editing, obviously. Editing and critiquing are used to shape up soemthing you write into something more polished but is still yours. What I am talking about is where someone transforms what you have to say into something that really isn't you.

Something that isn't you? Where did that fall in my little story? Well, the girl changed what I wrote to something  boring and generic. Something "professional" enough for her standards. But, you see, I am not boring. Especially when I write something I mean. So changing my "Honestly. . ." to something completely bland took away from my own individual voice. That little SOMETHING that makes what I write . . . mine.

So two milliseconds after her hand was away from my keyboard, I hit the undo button a bunch of times until the sentence was mine again.

Yeah, that was a true story. I'd like to hear what y'all have to say about what I just told you. If you'd like to share your opinion, please, feel free to comment and tell me.

Thank you for reading my rant and visiting my blog! I hope I amused you even a little bit.

Until next post, Friends! (By the way, my next post should be a review of Under The Never Sky, in case you didn't notice the sidebar!)

Job Shadowing

I am aware that is a day late. I was supposed to post this yesterday, but I never got a chance to, so here I am. Still, belated or not, before I jump into my nice little story about job shadowing - yes, job shadowing - I want to wish Jana a very happy 16th birthday!!!!! If you don't remember who Jana is, let me refresh your memory. She is the blogger from The Book Goddess and also the wonderful person who designed my blog button! So I hope she HAD (I can't say HAS because I'm a day late on this post. Grrr.) a marvelous birthday!

All right, so on Tuesday I went on a little trip for school. It was for my BIM class (Business Information Management). I went to the ARAMARK office for out school district with two other girls from my class and we learned about what two women from their human resources department DO in their jobs there. NO, this post is not going to be about books, but it's still interesing to read about, in my opinion.

First things first - what I had to wear. This doesn't sound very important, but it STILL affects me right now, so you all get to hear about it. I had to wear business-y type things. A skirt. I NEVER wear skirts. Like, ever. It's just not my thing. But on Tuesday I did. I have to admit, it was pretty. And soft. Very plain, black. But I think it looked nice in the wind. Anyways, a skirt. A pretty gray and white shirt. I can't explain this, so just go along with whatever image you can conjure from that little bit I gave you - the colors. And lastly, the most important part, was the SHOES. The stupid, stupid shoes. So cute, yet so stupid. My. Feet. Still. Hurt. Yeah, that bad. I looked cute, though, if that's any consolation. Which it isn't for me, but hey.

Now, what is job shadowing? Well it sounds like something where you go to a JOB and SHADOW someone as they do their work. And that sounds boring. What it actually was, was meeting with two women who work at ARAMARK and having them explain what it is they do and why it's important. The two women I met with were named Adriana and Christine. They were so friendly! I will admit that at the beginning of our little meeting, it was boring. They just explained every little aspect of their department - human resources - in detail. Now, I'm not saying I didn't learn anything new. Or that I regretted going. (I mean, did YOU know that the HR department deals with marketing and uniforms? I didn't.) I'm just saying, it kind of went on. And on. And on. And plus, we were kind of shy in that beginning block of learning. Very polite. So that wasn't exactly the best aspect of the trip.

Then, after the explanation was over, we went over to the middle school nearby and looked around at the cafeteria and snack bar (because ARAMARK is who supplies our lunches). On the walk over, we all talked a bit and got to know each other a little better. I think this was the time that we got more comfortable and not so reserved - the walks, I mean, to and from the middle school. My friends told Adriana and Christine about themselves, and thier plans after high school, and I talked about my blog, of course. I love to tell people about my blog. Seriously, when I get started talking about books, I'm good to go for a WHILE.

Okay, so we were looking in the middle school, and Adriana and Christine asked for our input on things. They listened to our ideas and truly seemed to like them. I think I liked that the best, how they got so excited when we came up with ideas. It made me feel included and like I was actually DOING something.

After we got back from our trip to the middle school, we just sat around in the tiny conference room (it was seriously small, but I liked it) and talked about stuff we'd learned and thought up some more ideas. Then, we got on the bus and went back to school where I - thankfully - changed out of my business-y clothing and went to my chemistry class for, like, five minutes. Yeah, that was a perk, I got to miss some classes. Even better, I didn't really get all that far behind and am caught up now. Sometimes being the smart girl really comes in handy.

Now, what was the point of this post? No, it was not to bore you all with a non-book-related adventure. I posted this because I seriously went on the trip because it seemed interesting to me. I also went because it would be a nice thing to add to my college apps when I have to fill those out, but that's not important. What IS important is that I DID learn some things while hanging with Adriana and Christine. Let's list SOME of these things, shall we?
- a bunch of aspects that went into HR - such as the uniforms and marketing I mentioned earlier
- how much thought went into things that students see EVERY DAY
- how sincere the people who choose what goes on our lunch menus are
- how in-depth the HR department really goes into a business' interactions
- and a BUNCH more that I'm much too lazy to list
Yes, I am a lazy person. I admit to this wholeheartedly. It's just the way I am. I mean, it MUST work for me. I get things done from time to time. ;)

Quick little statement: I honestly had fun on this trip. Yes, FUN. Like the band, but not as tangible. I WOULD go on a trip like this again. I'm so glad my teacher(s) asked me to do this!

Okay, now for anyone looking for book blogging news, here it is:
I WAS going to tell you that I had no clue what I was going to post tomorrow, because this was supposed to be posted YESTERDAY. But since I missed a day, I know exactly what I'm posting tomorrow. So, come on by and check it out! ;)

Thank you guys for visiting my blog and reading this post.

Until next post, Friends! Have a safe and fun weekend!

YAAAAWN.

Hello, Friends. In case you did not notice from the title of this blog post, I am tired. Here's a fun fact about me: I NEVER get enough sleep. Ever. I try and try, but it just doesn't happen. Now I'm throwing my small level of sleep in with attempting to learn and actually thinking about boring things like accounting. (Yes, I am actually taking an accounging class. It's a double credit, folks!) Anyways, back to the point: I am tired, as I always am, but school just makes it worse. I shall live, though, so I shall move on to things you all care about more than my horrible sleep habits.

Yesterday I gave you a fun little list of what I planned to read in the order in which I planned to read them. I think I may have done something I do not do very often, and never on purpose: I think I lied. Not intentinally or in any way that is super important. The thing is: I am back at school now. I'm not whining this time, I'm just saying that my copy of Veil Between Worlds by Sally Dubats is on my computer (with my Kindle PC app). That means I cannot take it to school with me to read, which is what I do with pretty much all my books. I mean, think about it- how else would I get any major reading done? I have a very tiny amount of time for leisure things on school nights, unfortunately. Back to my point, because I seem to keep getting off track - I told you I tend to ramble - I will probably wait to do big heavy-duty reading of Veil Between Worlds until the weekend. I'll read the beginning during the week, but other than that I will probably be reading Take Me There by Susane Colasanti for now. Probably.

Why did I just say probably? Well - you sharp reader, you - I said PROBABLY because I am only a few pages from finishing The Dark Divine. Now you are asking why this changes things. Well, I'll tell you! This changes things because The Dark Divine is a wonderful book that has a sequel I have put on reserve in the library. That means I should get it soon, and when I get it, I shall devour the awesomeness I KNOW is waiting inside.

On that note, I will have the review for The Dark Divine by Bree Despain up tomorrow sometime. Probably sometime after five- yeah, the school thing again. I'm definitely finishing the book tonight, though. At this moment, there is NO WAY I could sleep leaving off where I stopped reading during accounting. (Yes, I read during class, but only certain ones and during down time. Remember- I am a smart chicky!) I have also decided that I will do individual reviews for each of the books in The Dark Divine trilogy. This is based off of a few reasons:
1. I NEED to tell you about this first book, like, NOW. Yeah, it's just that great.
2. I do not actually have the second book in my hands yet and I don't want to leave you guys waiting forever for a review because that would be mean, and I try not to be a mean person.
and
3. The last book in the trilogy, The Savage Grace, is not in my library yet. I have not a clue when or if my library will get it, so I guess I can't really make any promises. When/if my library gets it, I promise I will get my hands on it ASAP. For you and for me. :)

All right, I think that's it and I have a chemistry test tomorrow. Ew. I'm not too good with chem. Math, yes. English, yes (clearly). But chem? NOPE. Off I go to finish my current marvelous reading endeavor and then work on some review for chem. Wish me luck!

Oh, and for my nice friends who visit my blog often: Can you do me a favor and follow my blog? I KNOW that a bunch of you check it out, but it would be cool to have some actual, you know, followers. I thank you in advance for being so awesome.

Okay, I bid you all a good night. I will post again tomorrow, Friends!

How Time Flies. . .

Friends, my Spring Break is already over! I find this so upsetting. It passed by so quickly and it feels as if I have done nothing with my week off. Honestly, Spring Breaks should be longer. Then again, both you and I know that I actually have done things during this break. . . a whole lot of reading and reviewing, I took my SAT (thank goodness THAT'S over), and stuff of the blogging nature. Still, lost time is sad.

Now on to lighter topics, I am tweaking my Reading List a bit. Not a bunch, just a little. Here is the updated one:
1. The Dark Divine by Bree Despain (I'm currently reading this one. INTERESTING.)
2. The Grimoire Chronicles: Veil Between Worlds by Sally Dubats
3. Take Me There by Susane Colasanti
4. Dark Souls by Paula Morris
and
5. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson (This one is a reread, but again I say: I LOVED IT. So I will be glad to read it again.)
Again, **Please Note: When I get Between, it automatically goes to the very top of the list. Yeah, I want to read it that bad. what can I say? I'm a sucker for guys named Aiden with Scottish accents.**

I have happy news, well kind of. One piece of this I told you guys yesterday- I'm expecting an ARC of Transcendence by CJ Omololu. I am so excited about this! I don't really get ARCs on a regular basis, unfortunately. It would be great if I did, though! Anyways, my unknown-to-you piece of news now: I am expecting ANOTHER ARC! Yay for me! This one will be an ARC of Immortal City by Scott Speer. It is these kinds of things that make me happy. I shall give more information on these books and stuff when I actually, you know, receive them. I'll read them and review them and all the usual stuff, of course.

Quick thank you to Mrs. ReaderPants for my ARC of Immortal City, Sally Dubats for my copy of The Grimoire Chronicles, and CJ Omololu for my ARC of Transcendence. I am so excited to read all of these books! I have that tingly feeling right now (again) just thinking about it!

Now I just want to say that I do still plan on reading and reviewing and whatnot. I am just giving a heads-up, though that they may not be as frequent now that school is starting back up tomorrow. I am a smart chicky - I'm not bragging, just being serious (I'm graduating a year early, you know) - but high school is a huge time suck. Yes, a necessary one, but nonetheless true. I will still read like a speed demon, but you've been in high school- it is very stressful. I will do the best I can juggle it all, I promise, but cut me a little slack?

Okay, one last thing before I go to do. . .things. I think I'm going to my brother's house today. . . I did not plan on saying this, but I am listening to this song by Paramore called "Oh, Star" and it is such a great song! I don't know why but it is sticking with me right now and I need to tell you about it. It's not new, but it is an old demo that you may not have heard. I, for one, am a huge Paramore fan. So I feel it necessary to spread the word when I discover a particularly awesome song of theirs. Check it out HERE.

All right, and that is it. Thank you all, as always, for checking out my blog, and certainly feel free to take a look at my other posts!

Until next time, Friends! (And wish me luck at school tomorrow!)

What a Weekend

The weekend is over. Usually I would be bummed out about this, but luckily I'm on Spring Break for this week! I am so happy- I'll get to actually SLEEP. (Sleeping is something I rarely get to do much of on school days.) I don't have any particularly exciting plans for this week, just reading and writing some. Nothing gorund braking, clearly. Still, I get to do it uninterupted. Thank goodness.

So, Saturday. I took my SAT on Saturday! I am so so so so so glad it's over. It's a huge relief, really. That test was just a gillion pounds of weight on my shoulders, a bunch of pressure. Now it's gone, done and over with, and I am just flying. I was so nervous the night before and the morning of. Now I think I was so silly to be worried about anything. I don't think I made any records with my scores, but I don't think I bombed the test, either, so that's a good thing. The test started around 8 a.m. and dint' end until, like, 1 p.m. It is such a long test, and yet you don't have enough time to do everything. It is such a frustrating contradiction. Fortunately, I answered a huge majority of the questions, so I should be all right. Wow, I'm writing this, and it is such a boring topic, I realize. SATs are so boring, yes?

So I'll move on. Absolutely nothing newsworthy has happened this weekend. I am almost fiished reading The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin, though, and this book is just. . . I think it's good. Really good, actually, so far. I plan on finishing it sometime in the next 24 hours, then I'll write a review, and I'll start Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake. then I'll write a review and start the next book on my list (my list is on my post titled "I Have a (kind-of) Plan!") and so on. I plan on taking a trip to the library sometime in the next couple of days, so I'll update the list after my trip.

Other than this, I have nothing really to tell you, dear friends. I just thought I should post SOMETHING because I didn't post anything yesterday, and I'd rather not skip two days of posting instead of just one. You guys would miss me. As always, I thank everyone for reading my post, and recommend you read my other (more interesting) posts. There are. . . three reviews. Yeah, it's three. I had to think about it for a minute. Ha. It's late, my brain is acting sluggish. There's also other stuff that you may find interesting. My ringing endorsement on the book Between by Cyndi Tefft- it truly does look like a marvelous book, and I want to read it SO SO SO bad. I am in the process of asking -begging- my parents to get it for me so I can read it. If I can do it, you can do it too!;) as far as I can tell, there's an attractive male character named Aiden who has a scottish accent. SCOTTISH ACCENT- selling point right there.

Okay, I will stop with my advertising now and bid you all good night/day/whatever it is. . . Oh, and check out my Twitter if you haven't already! (@makesmeworse12) I'll post again soon! Bye, Friends!

Oh, Mondays & BLOODROSE (my current reading-endeavor update!)

What. A. Day. I am personally not a fan of Mondays at all, but some day of the week has to be this way, right? I had school today. Is it just me or can school be immensely frustrating? I was having a fantastic day. I really was.

Until I went to chemistry class.

For those of you who don't have to take chemistry or never did or whatever the case might be. . . well, you're missing out on nothing. It is a pointless subject for most people that I will never use once I get out of high school. I want to write. When in any part of my future will I have to know how to balance a chemical equation or know the difference between desposition (or whatever it's called) and sublimation? NEVER. I have no problem with school in general; I understand its importance and whatnot, but it can be so irritating. Especially when your most difficult class is something so unneeded.

Our chemistry class is a mess. We are on our third teacher. I'm not even kidding. We had one teacher for the whole first semester, and he was actually doing a great job. I sort of understood what was happening with him around. Then after Christmas Break, we had a new teacher. She had an accent that no one could understand, and didn't explain anything thouroughly enough. (Note: I have absolutely NOTHING against accents. I love them. I wish I had one. Sometimes I slip into using one without trying because I love them so much. In this situation, though, it was mighty inconvenient and so unpredictable.) Science has never been my strong suit. Ever. It's just not my cup of tea. So when I have a teacher that does not seem to be doing her job well at all. . . well I am not going to be happy. But I was sort of getting used to her. I could barely understand what she said, but she gave good fill-in-the-blank notes that kept me doing well on the three tests she was actually, you know, here for.

Because at the beginning of last week, I walked into class. And we had a new teacher. She told us the old teacher wasn't teaching us anymore and she would be here for the rest of the year. Explain this to me: since when to we just get new teachers out of the blue without any warning whatsoever? Oh, that's right. It isn't supposed to happen. So now we're dealing with this new teacher. She's okay. She seems nice enough, but stern enough, too, like she's not a push-over. That's good. Our class is insane. No one knows how to be quiet and listen for more than five minutes. Who knows, I may actually learn something now. But my problem is, what made me so annoyed about today. . . SHE HELD US AFTER THE FLIPPING BELL. I know, it sounds juvenile and immature to whine about this. But I have that class last period of the day, and when that bell rings I want to go home. I do not want to sit in class and listen to my chem teacher attempt to explain the procedures of a lab we aren't going to do until, like, Friday. Plus, I have a bus to catch. Luckily, I made my bus and got 10 extra credit points (along with everyone else who stayed and listened) for remaining somewhere around two minutes after the bell.

Yeah. So now that I got that out - gee, this blogging thing will be great for venting - I will move on to the book I am currently in the middle of reading. First, I just want to ask: you understand where my frustration comes from about chemistry, right? It makes sense? Being irritated at the total instability our class has? Good.

I am currently reading the last book in the Nightshade trilogy, Bloodrose. I plan on finishing it today or tomorrow (let's see how my Gatsby homework goes later. . .) then I'll just write a review on the whole trilogy. But I'll let you know my impression of the books so far: GENIUS. These books are so much more than just the ordinary werewolf story. There is so much background behind it that makes total sense in the world created in these pages. Bloodrose in particular is very well-written so far. I am happy with where the story is going, though I have a doom-y feeling about what is going to happen to a character whom I love. Yupp, read these books and you'll fall in love with someone. At the moment, I am fully aware that this book has the power to break my heart when I finish it. I'm kind of hoping that doesn't happen, but it usually does.

I'm a sucker for the underdogs.

Alright, so lastly I want to say thank you to everyone who is reading this right now! If you haven't read my revieew of The Demon's Lexicon trilogy by Sarah Rees Brennan yet, then I think you should check it out. . . like, NOW. Those books were phenominal. READ THEM. Okay, bye Friends!
