http://www.fiktshun.com/fiktshun/2013/11/21/top-10-of-2013/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=top-10-of-2013
I'm taking part in the super fun event hosted by Rachel from Fiktshun, Jaime from Two Chicks on Books, and Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads

Today's topic: Books I'm Looking Forward to in 2014

The Last Forever White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1) Fire & Flood (Fire & Flood, #1)
These are all books I've read/have. I've read WHK and F&F, and I have The Last Forever on my Kindle right now. But I love these authors, and I loved the books I've already read. WHK legit made me cry, y'all. And F&F? AHHH I HEART THAT BOOK. I want a Pandora or two of my own. And The Last Forever...Deb Caletti is one of my absolute favorite contemporary authors (ever since I read Stay which is my favorite by her), so I'm really looking forward to reading this one sometime soon!

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13138734-this-shattered-world?ac=1
Expected Publication: 2014
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Series: Starbound #2
Description from Goodreads:
THIS SHATTERED WORLD is a companion novel, set in the same galaxy as book one in the Starbound Trilogy. Six months after the events of THESE BROKEN STARS, the second book in the trilogy follows a new pair of star-crossed lovers—one a rebel fighting for his home, the other a soldier, her mission to eradicate the rebellion—facing down a powerful darkness hidden in the wilderness of a newly terraformed world.

THE STARBOUND TRILOGY:
Three worlds. Three love stories. One enemy.

Why I'm anticipating:
I really enjoyed the first one! I'm kind of sad this one isn't about Tarver and Lilac, because Tarver freaking rocked, but I still think this story is going to be super good.

The Geography of You and Me
Expected Publication: April 15, 2014
Publisher: Little, Brown for Young Readers
Description from Goodreads:
Lucy and Owen meet somewhere between the tenth and eleventh floors of a New York City apartment building, on an elevator rendered useless by a citywide blackout. After they're rescued, they spend a single night together, wandering the darkened streets and marveling at the rare appearance of stars above Manhattan. But once the power is restored, so is reality. Lucy soon moves to Edinburgh with her parents, while Owen heads out west with his father.

Lucy and Owen's relationship plays out across the globe as they stay in touch through postcards, occasional e-mails, and -- finally -- a reunion in the city where they first met.

A carefully charted map of a long-distance relationship, Jennifer E. Smith's new novel shows that the center of the world isn't necessarily a place. It can be a person, too.

Why I'm anticipating:
I love Jennifer E. Smith's books. Ever since The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight. They're so cute and I can't wait to read another!

Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3)
Expected Publication: February 4, 2014
Publisher: HarperCollins
Series: Shatter Me #3
Description from Goodreads:
The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, called "a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love"

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as "a gripping read from an author who's not afraid to take risks." The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was "dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense." Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

Why I'm anticipating:
I'm going to be honest--this series terrifies me. I am SO afraid of the feels, and I'm Team Warner, and I have a bad feeling about how things are going to turn out for him. But I can't deny that I love these books anyway and Tahereh has some of the most beautiful writing, like, EVER. So I'm excited! *cries*

The One (The Selection, #3)
Expected Publication: May 6, 2014
Publisher: HarperTeen
Series: The Selection #3
Description from Goodreads:
The Selection changed the lives of thirty-five girls forever. And now, the time has come for one winner to be chosen.

America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the competition approaches its end and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.

From the very first page of The Selection, this #1 New York Times bestselling series has captured readers' hearts and swept them away on a captivating journey... Now, in The One, Kiera Cass delivers a satisfying and unforgettable conclusion that will keep readers sighing over this electrifying fairy-tale long after the final page is turned.

Why I'm anticipating:
  *stares at beautiful cover*
...
OKAY. There is an actual reason I want to read this book, aside from the cover. I want America to end up with Maxon. I want to SEE that. If that one simple thing happens in this book, I will be happy. I love Maxon, and this series is so flipping good. I'm kind of scared for this book, though. Like...what is she DOESN'T end up with Maxon? ... I SWEAR I WILL UGLY CRY.

The irresistible, blazing-hot sequel to New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams's Forgiving Lies.

Kash is ready for it all with Rach. Especially if all includes having a football team of babies with his future wife. With his line of work, he knows how short life can be, and doesn't want to waste another minute of theirs. Why I'm anticipating:
Molly McAdams writes some darn good romance. Makes me feel all happy and stuff. Also, have you read Forgiving Lies? THAT ENDING. *dies* It's pretty much a physical need at this point to read Deceiving Lies. NEEEEEED, I say!

Why I'm anticipating:
I love Katie McGarry's books! And they seriously keep getting better and better. Crash Into You is my favorite of hers so far (just like Isaiah is my favorite book boy of hers so far <3), and I'm excited to see the next story in this cast of characters! I thought West was cool in CRASH, so it'll be nice to actually read his story. Eeeeep! :)

Don't Look Back
Expected Publication: April 15, 2014
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Description from Goodreads:
Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

Why I'm anticipating:
Before I get into this, there's actually an animated cover for this one. Click here to see it and all its awesome! Okay, now. Why I'm so flipping excited for this book. You may have noticed this, but I kind of love Jennifer L. Armentrout. And her books. Because they're freaking great. Plus, this book seriously does sound interesting. And I WAAAANT IIIIIT. *grabby hands*

The Warrior (Dante Walker, #3)
Expected Publication: May 6, 2014
Publisher: Entangled teen
Series: Dante Walker #3
Description from Goodreads:
War between heaven and hell is coming, but Dante Walker makes it look damn good.

Dante’s girlfriend, Charlie, is fated to save the world. And Aspen, the girl who feels like a sister, is an ordained soldier. In order to help both fulfill their destiny and win the war, Dante must complete liberator training at the Hive, rescue Aspen from hell, and uncover a message hidden on an ancient scroll.

Dante is built for battle, but even he can’t handle the nightmares where spiders crawl from Aspen’s eyes, or the look on Charlie’s face that foretells of devastation. To make matters worse, the enemy seizes every opportunity to break inside the Hive and cripple the liberators. But the day of reckoning is fast approaching, and to stand victorious, Dante will have to embrace something inside himself he never has before—faith.

Why I'm anticipating:
Dante's my boy. And I've been a huge fan of his story so far--now it's time for it to come to an end. WHICH MAKES ME SO FREAKING SAD. But I can't wait for another dose of Dante. I luuurve him. So we'll pretend for now that this ISN'T the last Dante book. It's just another one. Okay? OKAY? *cries*

Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3)
Expected Publication: April 8, 2014
Publisher: Little, Brown & Company
Series: Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3
Description from Goodreads:
By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her, if there can even be a future for the chimaera in war-ravaged Eretz.

Common enemy, common cause.

When Jael's brutal seraph army trespasses into the human world, the unthinkable becomes essential, and Karou and Akiva must ally their enemy armies against the threat. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people.

And, perhaps, for themselves. Toward a new way of living, and maybe even love.

But there are bigger threats than Jael in the offing. A vicious queen is hunting Akiva, and, in the skies of Eretz ... something is happening. Massive stains are spreading like bruises from horizon to horizon; the great winged stormhunters are gathering as if summoned, ceaselessly circling, and a deep sense of wrong pervades the world.

What power can bruise the sky?

From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.

At the very barriers of space and time, what do gods and monsters dream of? And does anything else matter?

Why I'm anticipating:
This is one of my favorite trilogies. Laini's writing is gorgeous and the whole STORY...it's got me. Ya know? I'm just IN. I'm kind of nervous to see how this one will end, though. I mean, we obviously won't get another cliff hanger, but...how will things work out? Or will they just NOT? AHHHHH.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13644055-opposition?ac=1
Expected Publication: August 5, 2014
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Series: Lux #5
Description from Goodreads:
In the stunning climax to the bestselling Lux series, Daemon and Katy join forces with an unlikely enemy to ensure the survival of not only their love for each other, but the future of all mankind. Opposition will bring forth a new dawn to the Lux universe, where man must stand with alien to survive, and the future, no matter the outcome, will never be the same.

Why I'm anticipating:
Lux is one of my favorite series. I love Daemon, I'm actually a fan of Katy, and their whole story is just awesome. This is the last book in the series, which is sad, but I am incredibly excited to see how this book goes! The ending of Origin (thankfully) didn't tear me to pieces or anything, but I always love spending time with these characters as they navigate the crap they need to deal with. And Jen has skills, so goodness knows this book is going to rock super hard. WOOT.

What do you think of the books I'm anticipating in 2014? What are some books you're excited for? Is it just me, or is 2014 going to be another great year for books? Because SERIOUSLY. Eeeep!
