Blog Tour: Wounded by Jasinda Wilder (Character Interview!)

Welcome to my stop on the Wounded blog tour! Today, I get to share my interview with Rania! She is so sweet. :)

Rania! Thank you so much for stopping by to chat with me today!

Thank you so much for having me! It is an honor to be here on your blog.

So, I’m going to be boring and ask the obvious first question—how’s it going with the whole learning-English thing? Last I checked, you were doing GREAT. So how’s it going now? Better, I presume?

I am doing well, I think. Hunter tells me I speak better English every day. I am doing great in other ways, too. Thank you for asking.

If I admit to you right here and now that I have a fangirl crush on Hunter, will you not hate me? It’s just a book thing, I swear. Plus, you’re AWESOME!

He is mine, so I am not hating you, I promise. I do not know if I am awesome, but you are sweet to say so. Besides, how can you not have a crush on Hunter? He is so amazing, I think if you are a woman, you have to.

Speaking of Hunter, how are things going with him? Good? I hope they’re good.

Hunter is wonderful. We have our difficulties as all people in love do, but we are good. He takes care of me.

So, though I adore Hunter, I think we should take a minute to talk about your brother. What was your relationship like before he became a soldier? I know after he did, your relationship wasn’t very nice, but I’m curious about what it was like before.

Hassan…he was just a boy, so with him I was the older sister, then like his Mama. He hated it when I bossed him around, and was always trying to prove how he was a man. To be a soldier was all he spoke of. It was impossible to not happen, I think. Now I only wonder where he is. What he is doing. If he is okay. If he has found a woman to love, or if war has taken him too. I have not seen him since that day in Iraq.

If your brother were here today, what would you say to him?

I would tell him I love him. Everything else? He would not hear me.

All right, NOW we can go back to Hunter. What is your absolute favorite thing about him? Your least favorite thing about him?

My favorite thing about him? Can I say everything? How can I pick only one thing? Perhaps how sweet he is to me. How he treats me as if I were a queen. There are not many things about him I do not love, and even those things are part of him. He curses very much. I would ask him to not curse so much, and I do ask him, but it is how he is and he will not change.

If you could change one thing about yours and Hunter’s situation, what would it be? Why?

I cannot answer that, I think. I have learned a long time ago that I cannot change the past, and to try is empty hitting of the air. I love Hunter. What happened, happened. It cannot be changed. I am sorry if that is not the most pleasing answer.

Can you tell Hunter I say hi? Please?

Of course I will tell him, and I can assure you he would say hello in return.

All right, now YOU. How are you adjusting to America, aside from the language thing?

It is difficult sometimes. America is a much different place that Iraq. There are so many things to learn, to understand. But I like it. It is home now.

Do you ever miss home? Why or why not?

Home is where Hunter is. Do I miss Iraq? That is a difficult question. I miss how things were before my mother and father died, when I was a little girl.  I do not miss the Iraq that I lived in as a teenager and as a woman.

What’s your favorite thing about living in America now? (Other than being able to stop by and do interviews with me, of course, hehe)

Oh, Everything! I love air conditioning. I love the fancy cars and the movie theaters. I love the freedom and the safety most of all, that there is not war here always, fighting always.

Okay, now I just wanna do some favorites, okay? Just let me what your favorite of each is!

Food? French Fries from the MacDonalds.

Person? My husband, of course.

Color? Blue? Perhaps Purple? I like all the colors.

Book? I have not read very many books. I am still learning to read and write fluently in English. I cannot say if I have a favorite book.

Song? There is a song on the radio that I have heard. I do not know the name or who is singing it, but the words are about rolling in the deep. It is a very interesting song, I think.

Thing to do in your spare time?

Hunter and I go on walks, and watch television. I like the program Modern Family very much. I like to prepare for the baby, of course. We are painting the nursery this time.

And that is it, my friend. I thank you SO SO SO MUCH! For stopping by my blog today. You, my friend are awesome. Please. Feel free to stop by again sometime!
Thank you so so much for having me. It was my pleasure, and perhaps I will come again soon, if you would like to have me.

Any time you'd like, I'd love to have you, girl!

Wounded by Jasinda Wilder

WoundedDescription from Goodreads:
War has taken everything from me. My family. My home. My innocence. In a country blasted by war and wracked by economic hardship, a young orphan girl like me has very few options when it comes to survival. Thus, I do what I must to live, to eat, and I try very hard to not consider the cost to my soul. My heart is empty, and my existence brutal.

The one impossibility in my life is love.

And then I meet HIM.

War is hell. It takes a chunk out of a man's very soul to do the kinds of things war demands of you. You live with fear, you live with guilt, and you live with nightmares. If you haven't been through it, there's no understanding it. War leaves no room for love, no room for tenderness or softness. You gotta be hard, closed off, and ready to fight every moment of every day. Lose focus for a split second, and you're dead.

Now the only thing that can save me is HER.
