Description from Goodreads:
All she wanted to do was forget. Forget the memory of walking in on her boyfriend in the middle of, well, another girl. Forget how she had her entire life planned out. And, forget about being perfect all the time. Unfortunately, she was Whitney Vandaveer and despite the fact that she moved to the middle of nowhere – she couldn't.
He always knew he would never be more than nothing. No job, no money, no future. Cole Pritchett had accepted the fact that he would always be the screw up and he was okay with it. Until he met her.
Here's the thing they quickly found out – sometimes we all need a little help escaping who we think we are.

When I started this book, I expected to like it. I liked the beginning, the characters were okay, and the book just seemed like it was going to be one that I felt was okay. I liked it. But that was only at the VERY beginning.
Then I read more and kept going (because, you know, that's how you finish books. You READ them the whole way through) and as the story went on, I fell more and more in love with it. With the characters, with what the characters DID, everything. So now? I LOVE THIS BOOK.
Character Rundown:
Whitney: As far as character arc goes, I liked Whitney. She did turn into a character that didn't make me want to punch things. As far as would I be friends with her if I knew her? goes. Hmm. I think I would. So I guess she wasn't too bad. :)
Cole: I am going to say here and now that I love his name. I don't know why. I was just reading this book yesterday and as I took a sip of my water, I was like "I am REALLY liking this guy's name." So yeah. As for the character himself...HE IS MINE I CALL DIBS BACK OFF. Heh. It took him longer than Whitney to work through his issues, but there was still only one point in the book where he made me want to punch something, so that was okay. Yes. As far as Cole goes, I am definitely a fan. <3
Plot. This is actually one of the things I love most about this book. Because whenever I expected the same old thing to happen, it DIDN'T. Things got better and I was like "YES! I AM SO GLAD I WAS WRONG ABOUT THAT." There aren't unnecessary arguments, or if there was an argument, it didn't drag on forever and bore me because Character A and Character B weren't speaking to each other.
Romance. Just like with the plot, this is something that made me all happy when it defied my expectations. There wasn't insta-love, but they didn't stand around trying to be "friends" for an excessive amount of time. They were up front and real about it. They were also so incredibly sweet and cute, MY HEART. Ahhhh, my heart.
The ending. I agree. With all of it.
Overall, this is the first book I've read by Elizabeth Lee and I certainly want to read more! Escaping Me surprised me with how amazing it was, and I truly love this book now! So much!

About the Author
When I'm not writing or playing the part of wife and mother, you can find me dancing back-up for Beyonce, singing back-up for Miranda, or sunning myself on the beach with a drink in hand. Here's the thing about being born and raised in a small town—you have a very vivid imagination! Now, I channel it all to create stories where the girl always ends up with the right guy, first kisses are magical, and a happy ending is just that!
