Halloween Giveaway!

Happy Halloween, my wonderful bloggish friends! In celebration of this sweet, sweet holiday, I'm going to have a giveaway. Today, I'm giving away YOUR CHOICE of a paranormal book. Yeah. You get to choose if you win. But, if you want my insight as to what you should pick, here are a few I think are awesome that you would be smart to pick:

 

     

     

 

All of those are books that I've read and loved. I would be more than happy to give any of those to someone, but they are only suggestions. If you win and you want something else, just make sure it's paranormal and all is well. And yes, I am a L.J. Smith fan. And a HUGE JLA fan. So much awesomeness there. Why I cannot wait for this book: Read that description. Does it or does it not sound like something I would just LOVE?!! Sorry to be sucha  girl, but...rule #5...that's the one that gets me the most. And, there's a boy names Zane. The name Zane always seems to get to me. I have no idea why, but it does. This book looks like it's going to be a blast to read, and I can't wait to get my hands on it! AND, I read The Ghost and the Goth trilogy, and Stacey Kade is awesome. That is all.

Carmen DeSousa has officially been added to my list of authors I will read anything by If her name's on it, I want to read it. Land of the Noonday Sun was that great.

Right of the bat, this book begins with a very intriguing scenario, and then continues into more events that just suck you in. Then, we start getting attached to the characters and drawn into the mystery until we have no choice but to read read read to get to the ending. Needless to say, in this book, there was rarely a dull moment.

Character Rundown:
Cassandra: Cassie is a nice protag. She's serious, yet passionate, and a very real character that can most definitely be related to by a reader. I liked her. She made the best of what she had, though she was cautious, for good reasons.

Chad: I liked Cassie, but I LOVED Chad. I enjoyed reading from his point of view the most. Carmen DeSousa gave us yet another southern gentleman that I couldn't help but love. While Chad was a super amazing southern gentleman, he ws by no means perfect. He said not-the-best things. He did not-the-best things. But he made up for all of it a hundred times over. This guy is seriously amazing.

Other Characters: Tom--I like Tom. A lot. That guy...he's a good guy. Michelle--that girl is all kinds of crazy. Sorry, but it's true. Brandy--there's more to her than meets the eye, and that was ocol to find out.

The plot. The plot was fast-paced and utterly captivating. Not something I got bored while reading, that's for sure.

The sweetness. I already mentioned that Chad is a southern gentleman. Which means that there was of course an abundence of sweet, tummy-tingling moments. Cassie and Chad's relationship may not have been perfect, but it was beautiful.

The ending. These characters got the wonderful ending they deserve. Plus, it wasn't an ending that made me want to slap people! Yay!

Overall, if you thought She Belongs to Me was good, you'll be blown away by Land of the Noonday Sun. And if you haven't read either of them...do it.

Why I seriously CANNOT wait for this book: I adore Miranda Kenneally. Seriously, I do. Both of her books so far have been amazing and I am so excited to read her next book. Plus, she said that Matt, the guy in this one, is hotter than both Sam AND Will. If that's even possible. Alas, she said it is so, so I shall be the judge of this. AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS.

For the most part, I have heard nothing but raving about Amanda Hocking, especially her Trylle trilogy. And we all know that when I hear good things about books, I have to poke my head in and see what all the talk is about. And I mst say, I completely understand now.

Switched was a really good book. It was by no means perfect, but it was definitely entertaining. I loved the premise and most of the characters were wonderful and I completely enjoyed reading this book. I will admit, I was skeptical in the beginning, but after a little bit, I really got into the story.

Character Rundown:
Wendy: I have a love/dislike relationship with Wendy. I don't like the fact that she acts like a little brat sometimes. That really irritates me. But I do like how friendly she is when she's given the chance. Especially with Rhys. Because Rhys is the sweetheart of this book, and I adore that boy.

Finn: Ah, Finn. Finn was...not as awesome as I'd hoped. I mean, he was an alright character, and I liked his scenes with Wendy for the most part, but he wasn't that interesting most of the time. We do learn a little about him, so he's not a horrible character or anything. He's just not as great as I'd hoped he would be.

Rhys: As I said, this boy is a sweetheart. THIS is the boy I like in this book. He's caring and funny, and cute, and pure awesome.

Other characters: Elora...meh. And Matt, I loved Matt. Great big brother, right there. Tove--I liked Tove. He's totally a guy I'd be buds with. And that is all.

Lurve. Yeah, this story has the kind of love that I have to say as "lurve." I do not see how the feelings grew at all. Wendy literally just decided "oh, well, Finn's not that bad...and he's attractive..." and then BOOM. She loved him. And Finn already cared before that. Insta-love. And not the fun kind. Wendy and Finn had some sweet moments, but their relationship was not one of my favorites.

The plot. Other than that small insta-love issue, the rest of the story was great. I was amused, and the time spent reading this book just flew by, once I got into it. The beginning was interesting, but I was waiting to see when something would actually HAPPEN and be important. And then something greatly entertaining happened, and the story picked up and I was in.

The ending. Hello, cliffhanger. The next book is needed. Like, now. Because something happened. I liked the ending, though. I'm insanely surious to see what comes next.

Overall, this book is by no means perfect, but it is definitely very good. You should give it a go, for sure.

I have been excited about Stealing Parker for a while. I positively adored Catching Jordan and was looking forward to more amazing stories like it from Miranda Kenneally. So I was pretty much doing a happy dance throughout this whole thing, because Miranda certainly did not disappoint.

This story is about Parker, just like the last one was about Jordan, if not more so. Not only is it about Parker's relationships, but it's about Parker growing and becaoming comfortable with herself and what she wants. I loved and fully support that lesson throughout this book--that everyone should be comfortable with who they are because it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, so long as you yourself are happy.

Character Rundown:
Parker: Parker is a good girl. She does some not-great things, but she's just a little confused. She grew a lot in this book. It was wonderful to see her shift from someone who lacks REAL self confidence to someone who accepts herself, fully, and her family, too. She started off lost, but by the end she was on the right track, and that's what counts.

Brian Hoffman: I cannot call this guy simply "Brian." It's always going to be "Brian Hoffman." That's just how it is. I don't feel very many good things for this man. He pretty much used Parker, and she was too lost to see it. Yes, he had some sweet moments that made me smile, but when everything is considered all together, I just think he's kind of a creep. I'm not really a fan of the whole teacher/student relationship thing. Even if it's a really young teacher, like Mr. Brian Hoffman over here. There is only one guy who can get away with this for me, and his name is Dimitri. He's Russian, a fighting god, and never fails to make me smile. So there ya go.

Drew: Drew's a sweetheart! He actually reminded me of someone I know, so that was great. Friends like him are hard to come by and I was glad Parker had him. Such a great boy!

Corndog: Or Will, if you prefer. I was in love with him since the moment we met him. He's a nice, solid guy. He knows what he wants and can be serious about it, but he has fun, too. And he's a TEENAGER. Perfect. As far as Stealing Parker goes, Will is the boy that officially has MY heart.

The sweetness. I've already mentioned this, but there are countless sweet moments, coming from all directions. I honestly didn't know what Parker would decide to do concerning this, and that was fun. I know who I was rooting for, but...I didn't ever get a guarantee who she'd choose until the end. Still--this book is incredibly sweet. I smiled so much.

The plot. As I said, this book was not all predictable. Some particular events I honestly did not expect AT ALL. And by this, I am pointing a finger at Ryan (Parker's brother). But I liked him, so all is well now. There is great growth, and a fantastic message within this story, and I wouldn't change any of it for the world.

The ending. If you've read Catching Jordan, you'll understand me when I say that the ending was kind of like that, just a different scenerio and characters. The ending was nice, though I am curious what happened next. Then again, it's like that for all the books I read, so that's not much of a complaint. The important thing here is that I didn't want to slap anybody over this ending.

Overall, I strongly suggest you go read a book by Miranda Kenneally--whether it be Catching Jordan or Stealing Parker, it does not matter. You will not regret it!

Discussion: Dante Walker♥

 

My very first discussion post! This is kind of a big deal for me. We all know what discussion posts are, so I'm just going to jump in, yes?

 

I know exactly what y'all are thinking right now. "She wants to have a discussion about Dante Walker? Pfft." And my answer to that is: YES. Goodness, yes. For a few reasons:

1. I was lucky enough to be picked as a family member in the VMafia (henceforth, there's been somewhat a Dante explosion in everything that is ME--Twitter, blog, facebook, etc.) and I am seriously pumped about this. Seriously, seriously pumped. So I've been in the mood to gush about Dante because of this.

2. Um, this book looks just plain amazing.

3. DANTE FREAKING WALKER LOOKS JUST PLAIN AMAZING.

and 4. Victoria Freaking Scott is just plain amazing.

 

So we're going to talk about them. Or, I am, and then I kind of hope you say something in response. I've never done a discussion on the blog before, so...work with me here, peeps.

 

First of all, do you know who Dante Walker is? If your answer was no, we're fixing that huge issue right now:

All right. Now that all the formalities are out of the way, let's talk Dante. He's kind of epic, right? This book is my most anticipated of 2013 right now, and I legit CANNOT wait for this book to come out. I just may explode before it releases. Which would be sad, because then I'd never get to meet Dante.

Other than being TOTALLY HOT, Dante is also awesome. And by "awesome," I mean he is the best at what he does. Which tends to add to his ego. Which'll make him loads of fun to read about. Hot, confident, and amazing. That's Dante for ya.

Fun fact: his favorite color? Red. Why is this a fun fact? BECAUSE RED'S MY FAVORITE COLOR, TOO. Yeah. He and I already have something in common. That's so cool. ;)

Daemon Black. We all know who he is, right? If you don't...oh, dear. I have no response. He's only my MOST FAVORITE BOOK CHARACTER EVER. Yeah. It's kind of serious. Dante kind of reminds me of him. I must say, I never imagined Daemon having competition for my #1 boy, but...I don't know. Dante may be competition. I mean, look how much I love him already? Then again, I DID love Daemon before I technically met him, too. So you never know. My point here is: Daamon is still my #1, but Dante is a VERY close second. Just so you know. Which, in case you read my review of The Golden Lily on Monday, does push Adrian back to #3. But that's okay, because I love them all. A lot.

So, this post is pretty much just a bunch of gushing about how awesome/cool/amazing/EPIC Dante Walker is. And how excited I am for The Collector to come out. And that's okay. Because some things deserve to be gushed over.

Review: A Want So Wicked by Suzanne Young

So, this is the sequel to A Need So Beautiful, which I read and reviewed...you know...recently. The ending to THAT book was somewhat cliff-hanger-y, so I picked up this book as soon as I could after that. And, um. THIS BOOK WAS SO GREAT.

This time, instead of Charlotte, we have Elise. This can throw you off, but this IS a sequel to A Need So Beautiful, not a companion. I've had people ask me this. Trust me, this one definitely comes second. So, we have Elise. Who, as the description says, wakes up with no clue who she is. Normally, this kind of thing at the beginning of the book just means it's all going downhill from there (sad, but true--check out my reviews of Glimmer and As I Wake if you are skeptical). That is certainly not the case here! This book was just as beautiful as the last, and even more enjoyable, in my opinion.

Character Rundown:
Elise: So it's pretty obvious who Elise actually is. And I like her just as much as I did in the last book, if not more, because this time she's still the wonderful, caring person she was, but she also has more personality. It was nice to see both the Charlotte in Elise and the...Elise. It was cool to see those two characters rolled into one so effectively, to create one character that I loved reading about.

Harlin: OH, HARLIN. I love him a million times more in this book. It was great to get to start all over with him, more or less, and he was much more defined this time. He was very solidly HIM. He not only had a personality, but one that I completely adored.

Abe: Abe is a guy who was full of AMAZING lines from the very moment we meet him. In the very beginning of this book, he was seriously awesome. But then...he wasn't. I like Abe, though. Still, Harlin's my boy this time around. And in the end, Abe...well, let's just leave it at I end with liking Abe a lot.

Other characters: We saw Dr. Swift again, and that was cool. He's a sweet guy. And then we have Onika again. I feel for her, but I don't like her at all. I understand her situation, but I am completely critical of how she handled it. And then there's Lucy, who is another character who I don't like her choices in certain situations. Not cool, people.

The plot. I enjoyed every single part of this book. The plot wasn't predictable--especially if you're comparing this book to the first one. Everything is not the same, no matter what people may think. This book had me riveted and I flew through the pages. I was kind of surprised when I saw that I only had ten pages left. I was like "NOOOOOO!" I kind of didn't want it to end. Why?

Because of Harlin. AKA, the sweetness of this book. Harlin is just the sweetest thing! He cares, and I love that. Plus, in this book, Harlin isn't as oblivious, therefore his romance with Elise can not be full of tension caused by secrets, secrets, and more secrets. Well, for the most part. Either way, it went better for them this time around, and that made me deliriously happy.

The ending. I'm curious, is there going to be another book after this one? Because that ending certainly left me wanting more, but I don't know if there's going to be a third. I hope there is. This ending made me happy, but also left me wanting a little.

Overall, this book was better than the first. A Need So Beautiful was a really good read, but A Want So Wicked was an amazing read. So, pick up these books and READ.

Why I'm waiting on this: If I Stay and Where She Went were two books that just got to me in the very best way possible. I honestly cannot wait to read more from this author. So, there's the fact that this is by Gayle Forman, and there's just the simple fact that the description looks terrific. Seriously, I'm excited for this one.

I read Bloodlines (the first book in this series) in August. Since then, I have been completely flipping out about this book. And now I finally got it! I must say, it was definitely worth the wait.

Bloodlines was a book that was kind of slow to start. Interesting, but not as great as expected. The Golden Lily, I am glad to say, was so much of an improvement. From page 1, this book had me. It's funny, compelling, and just plain terrific. This book moved along brilliantly, in a way that I'm beginning to learn only Richelle Mead could cook up.

Character Rundown:
Sydney: I kind of like Sydney. There's been a lot of debate about the fact that Sydney isn't as kick-ass as Rose was, but I think she's just as awesome as Rose, if not more. I think I actually like Sydney better. Sydney may not be a literal fighter, but in a battle of wits, there's no one better to put in there. Plus, Sydney is better to the people around her. I'm not saying Rose is a bad person, but, um, Adrian...yeah. But there are certain aspects of Sydney's character that grate on my nerves. I'm not going to go in depth and ruin the book for you if you haven't read it, but she can be so oblivious sometimes. *sigh* And then the ending. And that's all I'm going to say.

Adrian: OH, ADRIAN. As of this moment, Adrian is my second favorite male character. He is so completely deep and he just has so many emotions. He's a good guy, but he just has his issues. I disapprove of his little drinking habit, but other than that, Adrian has done no wrong in my eyes, and I doubt he ever could. Though since I said that, Richelle's probably going to swoop in and make him horrible. I don't think he could be, though. In my opinion, between this series and VA, Adrian is the most tortured. I feel for him. Goodness, I love this boy. He deserves happiness for once. If this series ends without him finding some, I just may lose all hope in humanity.

Everyone else: Yeah, so I just went through the two biggies. The other ones are as great as always. I liked that Jill wasn't as annoying in this one, and more responsible. Until she ruins that with a little stupidity. But still. Eddie...that boy wamrs my heart. And Dimitri. It was a big deal that he was thrown into this series like he was, but I actually loved it. Partly because I was ecstatic to see Dimitri again, and partly because it was great to see him through Sydney's eyes instead of Rose's. I actually laughed at some of her descriptions while he was fighting. Not in a bad way, but...we actually get to see the guardian god we've always heard about. Rose was always analyizing Dimitri's fights and glorifying how he looked and whatnot. Sydney just explained his mad skills. It was amazing. I really hope for more Dimitri in this series.

The plot. The plot did not drag in this book at all. Honestly, I was a little iffy as to what the plot even was until the big moment where the big stuff happened. Then I thought back to the book and was like "OF COURSE! That was the point to everything." Everything has a reason in this book, my friends. Don't second guess it. Not once did I get bored while reading this book, and I was actually insanely sad for it to end. Speaking of...

The ending. I need the next book (The Indigo Spell) NOW. That is all.

Overall, if you read Bloodlines and decided to give up on this series, I suggest you reconsider. It gets so much better. This book was so great!
